Germany - Election 2021

Election fraud, QAnon, Jan. 6: Far-right extremists in Germany read from a pro-Trump script
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics ... 9d41e5035c
HANOVER, Germany — One message advocated “occupying election offices.” Another warned of “coronavirus tyranny.”

And a third extolled former president Donald Trump and Q, the shadowy oracle of the extremist ideology QAnon, for inspiring a new social movement prepared to take back power from the state. “America is waking up and ready to fight,” it vowed.

The calls to action came not in anticipation of the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol. Rather, they emerged this month in Germany, within a far-right group on the messaging app Telegram, where neo-Nazis and doomsday preppers foresee what’s known as “Day X” — the collapse of the German state and assassination of high-ranking officials.

Such apocalyptic messages — posted in the run-up to German elections on Sunday — import conspiratorial, anti-government rhetoric broadcast in the U.S., according to screenshots of the since-deleted chatroom reviewed by The Washington Post.
:snippity:

These developments illustrate how forces unleashed by Trump in his effort to overturn his election defeat are finding resonance around the world. Globally, discontent with democracy reached an all-time high in 2020, with the trend most stark in the United States, Germany and other developed countries, according to a University of Cambridge report.
ETA: On his podcast, Bannon told a (far-right party) AfD deputy leader that he was “spending a lot of time focused on this German election.” Also, the far-right has targeted Dominion Voting Systems - which isn’t used in German elections. Facts do not apply...

Nazis jumping on the Trump train? Imagine that! I’m sure this will make Donald the dick-tater want-to-be very proud.

Looks like the left did well in the German election. SPD and the Greens gained seats. Far right

Right lost seats including the far right AfD nationalists.

Maybe not for a while…

A new German government may not be formed for months, with exit polls showing the two leading parties virtually neck-and-neck in the country's federal election.

Key points:

Exit polls show the centre-left SPD edging slightly ahead of the conservative CDU with 26 per cent of the vote
Any coalition negotiations could take months
Angela Merkel's replacement Armin Laschet may have cast an invalid ballot when voting
The result could mean Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose 16-year reign as leader was due to end at this election, remains in a caretaker role until a coalition is formed.

That could take days, weeks or even months.

The two coalitions that are in play, denoted by the party colours, are the "Stoplight coalition" of SPD (Red), FDP (Yellow), and the Greens (well, Green) and the "Jamaica coalition" of CSU/CDU (Black), FDP, and the Greens, either of which will involve some heavy-duty compromises.

There's little appetite for a repeat of the "Grand coalition" between CDU/CSU and SPD, which would require a third party anyway.

So this may take some time, which leaves the prospect of Merkel becoming the longest-serving Chancellor of post-war Germany since Helmut Kohl, if she remains in place by mid-December.
