So sad. I had thought he was on the mend after earlier health problems. He will be greatly missed.

Rest In Peace, Tollie.

Wish we had talked more. A great loss.
Blessings to all.

I am very sad to learn of Richard's death. He was a brilliant man with a heart of gold. He was a liberal through and through, an admirable feat for someone who grew up in Tyler, Texas. Richard was an undergraduate at The University of Texas when the Tower sniper ushered in America's plight of mass shootings. He was a witness to tragic history, and it was an event he and I discussed many times. Richard was an esteemed Sociologist and graced the lives of countless students as he graced the lives of those who came to know him here. My condolences to his sons and grandchildren.
I love the poorly educated!!!

I'm taking a series of research seminars right now, providing my first exposure to the formal techniques used in the social sciences. I find myself thinking of him a great deal today. I'm going to miss him a great deal.

My heart goes out to his loved ones.

I hope one of them stops by here and sees how much Tollie meant to us and how much he was respected and loved by all here. I am so very sad.

Hell, Cisco wrote some of his best stuff.

Truly, he was both a gentleman and a gentle, thoughtful man. We're all better for having known him.

Well, damn. I so enjoyed his posts, even the ones I'd didn't agree with. My deepest condolences to his family & friends (& all of us). And today I learned something I wish I hadn't - how hard it is to type while crying. :brokenheart:

I joined the Fogbow shortly after I’d had a (small) stroke. We had bought a new home about 9 months before the crash in 2008, and ended up moving to an 800 sf guest house on a large lot afterwards and renting ours out to more fortunate folk.

Fam had gone on a long-planned, week-long rafting trip and I, in my weakened state and having gotten walking pneumonia from mold in the ceiling near our bed, stayed home and moped...and coughed and coughed and coughed. No sleep possible. Tolland and I had long PM convos when we were the only ones awake, from opposite coasts. He was such a gentle man and had wide-ranging interests and a deep canyon of knowledge.

RIP my friend. :brokenheart: :brokenheart: :brokenheart:

I am sad to say that Vic passed away early this morning. I was with him as he took his last breath and am glad that his passing was without pain or discomfort. He had a remarkable life and he was a wonderful brother. There will be a memorial at his house in Chatsworth, probably in a month or so. I'll post details about the memorial later, and all are invited.
