Actually, a lot of the credit goes to Governor Josh Shapiro and others in the state, even some private concerns. It's rainy here, so Shapiro got the Pocono Raceway to lend it a drying machine, so it could work in this weather. (By here, I mean the whole state. I know you know Philly is on the other side of the state.)

Not saying Buttigieg certainly didn't help.

That's a fairly common road sign and I don't see any tipped over trucks, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say?

It is on the I-95 exit in Philly where the truck tipped over under the bridge and caught fire.

It's just like the 11'-8" bridge in NC (now 11'-8+8" bridge, i.e. 12'-4"). They raised it, signs and flashing signs everywhere and they still hit the bridge.

And various bridges around here.
The truck driver was not a newbie and driving this route was likely routine. That stupid bridge in NC should not be involved in the discussion of the I95 mishap. Something else went wrong.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... nd-derails
An Amtrak train carrying nearly 200 passengers struck a county water truck and derailed on Wednesday in southern California, critically injuring the truck’s driver, authorities said.

Three of the train’s seven cars went off the tracks following the collision in Moorpark, said Capt Brian McGrath of Ventura county fire department. The derailed train cars remained upright on tracks adjacent to an orchard and bare sections of land.

Fourteen people on the train were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, while the truck driver was taken to a trauma center with a head injury, McGrath said.

Parts of the demolished Ventura county public works truck were scattered all around the derailed train cars. McGrath initially said the truck’s driver was believed to have gotten out of the vehicle before the crash, but later clarified that the circumstances leading up to the wreck were not known.
Edited to add: It was the Coast Starlight.

He had to piss off Putin before he could be arrested..

Hopefully he continues to annoy Putin and suffers accordingly.

I have 0 sympathy for this mass murderer - MH17 will not be forgotten or forgiven!!!!

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-07-22/ ... /102634622

Igor Girkin, the Russian military commander found guilty of downing MH17, was arrested in Moscow. Here's what we know

Igor Girkin, who has spent months antagonising Russia's President Vladimir Putin over his handling of the war in Ukraine, has been arrested on "extremism charges".

Girkin, a self-described Russian nationalist and spy-turned-soldier, was found guilty in absentia last year of murdering 298 people, including 38 Australians, onboard flight MH17.

After he and two others shot down the Malaysia Airlines passenger jet over eastern Ukraine in 2014, Girkin quickly returned to Moscow, where he was beyond the reach of an extradition order.

A vocal supporter of the war in Ukraine, Girkin has become increasingly critical of the Russian military's war effort, going so far as to call for Mr Putin's downfall last week.

Girkin's wife Miroslava Reginskaya wrote on social media platform Telegram that she came home to find her husband missing.

“Today, representatives of the investigative committee came to our house," she wrote.

"They took my husband out under their arms and took him to an unknown direction.

"I do not know anything about my husband’s whereabouts."

Uninjured? Who gets hit by a train and walks away uninjured? That is one lucky SOB.

I guess the next try will be from a larger parking lot ...

That drone would by its size and weight qualify as a professional device that in many jurisdiction would need to be registered and operated with a license and the knowledge where flying is permitted.

ETA. by the marking on the blue truck left, China where everything goes (maybe Taiwan).

Nope. Writing is simplified Chinese, not traditional.

Cool video. Many of you/us know there were a huge number of human fatalities during the digging and construction of that canal. But CAPITALISM! (I didn't mean to make it political)

One of the coolest days I've ever spent was crossing from the Atlantic into the Pacific. Endlessly fascinating.
