Washington (CNN)Federal authorities investigating alleged sex trafficking by GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz have secured the cooperation of the congressman's ex-girlfriend, according to people familiar with the matter.

The woman, a former Capitol Hill staffer, is seen as a critical witness, as she has been linked to Gaetz as far back as the summer of 2017, a period of time that has emerged as a key window of scrutiny for investigators. She can also help investigators understand the relevance of hundreds of transactions they have obtained records of, including those involving alleged payments for sex, the sources said.

News of the woman's willingness to talk, which has not been previously reported, comes just days after the Justice Department formally entered into a plea agreement with Joel Greenberg, a one-time close friend of Gaetz whose entanglement with young women first drew the congressman onto investigators' radar.

No, it was NEVER true.

The 2nd Amendment says EXACTLY why it is there and it is the ONLY provision in the entire Constitution that contains its own justification (not counting the Preamble which provides the justification for the entire document.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

It specifically says that "the security of a free State" depends on "A well regulated Militia" and so the people should not be disarmed (as the British attempted to do to the colonies).

Many people ignore that justification, of course, but what is even more egregious is that most "uberPatriots" who do recognize the justification part twist it to mean what ever the heck they want to - and think they can get away with calling themselves a militia when what they are are armed gangs of thugs, and especially over the last couple of decades specifically anti-State gangs at that.

Futhermore, the Constitution defines EXACTLY what is meant by "a well regulated militia". And those guys ain't it.

Section 8:
The Congress shall have the power...

To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the states respectively, the appointment of the officers, and the authority of training the militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

Of course, IANAL, and there are those of you who are and will certainly edumacate me all about US v Miller and DC v Heller and etc. but I can read as well as any of you, and I don't see any reference to the plain English in the Constitution that defines a "well regulated militia" in those decisions (admittedly I haven't read them in close detail). On the contrary they seem to go out of their way to ignore that plain definition and rely instead on some imaginary understanding that a well regulated militia refers to the entire pool of able bodied men regardless.
