Trump Impeachment: Retaliation and Vengeance

We know it's coming. This is not a thread for using his big mouth and Twitter to verbally attack people, this is a placeholder for the actual retaliation that Trump will exact on people who prosecuted, testified or who are rumored to have done so. John Bolton, looking at you.

This sickens me. FTR, I am a New York resident.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nat ... 676815002/
ALBANY, N.Y. — The Trump Administration will prohibit New York residents from enrolling in programs that expedite border crossings, such as Global Entry, after the state blocked federal immigration authorities from accessing driving records and vehicle registration data.

The Department of Homeland Security's decision late Wednesday will keep New Yorkers from signing up for four federal programs that allow vetted, low-risk travelers to more easily cross foreign borders, including the various Canadian border points in New York.

The new federal policy is in direct response to New York's Green Light Law, which took effect in December and allows immigrants to seek driver's licenses regardless of whether they entered the country legally.

That law, which Gov. Andrew Cuomo and state lawmakers approved in June, also prohibits the state Department of Motor Vehicles from sharing any data with federal authorities that enforce immigration law, including ICE and Customs and Border Protection, without a subpoena or court order.

I just read that and I'm appalled. That's going to court.

We have Global Entry, and I'm pretty sure I had to provide my passport as primary documentation, not my driver's license.

I started this thread for vengeance against people who were involved in the impeachment proceedings. I think there's a place for Trump's generalized vengeance against states that didn't (and will never) vote for him.

Yeah, that is off topic, but it's not his typical tweet vengeance either.

How ironic that the poot’s “right to travel” is a core argument against that piece of Trump stupidity.

I didn't watch his victory speech, but it sounds like a doozy. I saw him at the end kiss his daughter before his wife.

He's apparently out to get vengeance on everyone who "wronged" him.

And now he considers himself bulletproof, completely empowered like never before to do exactly as he said, "anything he wants". IMHO that makes him a very dangerous person.

I'm pretty sure that you are not required to have a driver's license to participate in those programs.

A passport should be sufficient.

I can't see how any court could not find this to be arbitrary and malicious.

i'm saying nothing new here but he's been a very dangerous person since jan of 17 when he started targeting all different kinds of vulnerable people. it's just that we kinda all agreed to pretend that he could somehow be restrained. now he's starting to target people and groups who thought their positions or privilege protected them. this will continue and his allies won't even bother to apologize for it and much of the rest of the media will continue to interpet his actions as charitably as possible

I get NY is a blue state and will remain so, but they have some republican congresspeople, right? Not-Steve King comes to mind. I'm sure the residents won't mind.

Schumer is the Senator from New York. I see it as a direct connection. No? Happy to move, of course, just need some direction. BTW, I double checked that it is New York State that is the target, as MSNBC was reporting it as NY City (because it is a sanctuary city).

Not good, but I believe the esteemed and learned maybenaut has previously explained that Vindman will have legal recourse if his military career is adversely impacted by Trump. As for his post on the NSC, I cannot imagine why at this juncture he would want to remain there in any event.

Also, because he's on the military side, it may turn out that he's actually more secure from vindictive DOJ investigations than the civilians who cooperated with the House probe. I would defer to maybenaut on that point, of course, but at least the President doesn't have a direct line to military prosecutors the way he does to Bill Barr.

So it seems the Trumpers "think" Vindman supplied the information to the Whistleblower. Of course, they apparently have no evidence of that. And Trump's gotten that into that empty space that lies under the weasel on his skull. I don't believe that Trump is just going to let Vindman get reassigned to the Pentagon and forget about it. It's not the way Trump operates. He will not be happy until Lt. Col. Vindman and his twin brother are rotting away in prison somewhere.
