I'll be watching that later, tonight is supposed to be "Operation Boomerang" day based on Sekulow documents. I figured MSNBC would break in to cover the arrests of Obama, Clinton, Comey et al, but hasn't happened yet.

DiBlasio keeps jumping in, he's dramatic but is close to the Howard Dean scream level. Inslee got dinged, he talked about choice and that he's the only lawmaker who's made change, Klobachar said "there are 3 women on this stage and I think we've all been advocates".

John Delaney sounds common sense, business owner, he was saying Medicare for All, paid at current Medicare/Medicaid rates, would close most hospitals. Klobachar is more for the public option, others are all in for Medicare For All.

Castro has a passionate immigration answer, Cory speaks Spanish, Mario Diaz Balard is passionate, he asks Beto a question in Spanish and Beto answers in Spanish (at first). OK, here we go, Castro jumps in to disagree and it was the first split screen. Section 1325 apparently criminalizes illegal border crossings, Beto apparently wasn't for repealing it. Tim Ryan thinks we should ask doctors to volunteer to go down to the boarders to treat the kids.

Klobachar had a strong Iran answer based on her experience. Tulsi comes off young and pushy (and for TV, really bad skin). On to another break (only the second, they went over 30 minutes before the first break, that's cool) and everybody was trying to talk, Savannah said we'll be back with very enthusiastic candidates.

As we all know, with so many candidates, it all sort of blends in. It's moving along, they are keeping time, but there's no towering presence or raise the roof moment yet.

LOL at the end, they are all standing together and I would guess each one waved at the crowd and pointed to someone at least once.

Really... interesting decision by moderators not to take that immigration Q to Warren and Klobuchar, who visited Homestead today. (You could see Warren kind of throw up her hands.)

Tulsi Gabbard @TulsiGabbard
It's clear who MSNBC wants to be president: Elizabeth Warren. They're giving her more time than all the other candidates combined. They aren't giving any time to Tulsi at all. -V (Tulsi's sister)

Cory Booker got the most time. Beto 2nd. Warren 3rd.

I would give anything for Warren not to have raised her hand when asked if she would abolish private health insurance. I know the policy arguments for it, and I sympathize, but the majority of Americans get their coverage through private carriers and are terrified of the unknown. Not to mention you're talking about putting I don't know how many thousand people out of work or putting them to work for the government in a nationalized system. It's just too easy for Trump to turn that moment into an attack ad that will scare the shit out of people who would otherwise be looking to vote against Trump.

Reuters
Warren emerges from first Democratic debate unscathed ...

As the first night’s top-polling candidate, she did not falter. Her progressive platform — similar to Sanders’— largely went unchallenged by the moderates standing alongside her.

Most important, her status in the race to take on Republican President Donald Trump in the November 2020 election placed her front and centre for the Democratic voters watching at home, and she was given ample time at the outset to detail the populist, anti-corporate themes of her candidacy. ...

Beyond Warren, the candidate who likely helped himself the most on Wednesday was Booker, who spoke more than anyone else and gave passionate, engaged answers on immigration and guns.

On gun violence, Booker said it was “something that I’m tired of. And I’m tired of hearing people, all they have to offer is thoughts and prayers.”

Former U.S. Housing Secretary Julian Castro also may have raised his stock by getting into a sharp exchange with O’Rourke over decriminalising border crossings by migrants.

Please let this debate be the last time we hear from Williamson.

Love her. She puts her money where her mouth is every day. And is as progressive as it gets. Hope to see her in the cabinet, if not the WH.

I didn't tune in until about 20 mins ago. Is that the actual question presented? Or is DOTUS spinning it?

I haven't listened much at all, only heard a few news bites but I have no doubt it been spun, it's what Trump does. It'll all be picked clean and on the news tomorrow, I'll listen then.

Pete did great (probably the most calm, measured, and reasoned voice on the stage -- as we've come to expect).

But I think Kamala Harris won tonight's debate. Her light mom scolding when the boys were having their "food fight" cracked me up!
To which Trump replied, Fuck the law. I don't give a fuck about the law. I want my fucking money.

And if you visit a country with national healthcare and need medical care, you get it. No questions about whether you "deserve" it.
