In theory, an appellate court find reversible error. And that the error was attributable to the state, such that double jeopardy would apply.

In theory.

There are almost no mental health diagnoses that would have helped Chauvin. The only disorders that could adequately help would be a dissociative disorder such as schizophrenia or a fugue state, both of which would have been recognized by coworkers before or after Floyd's murder. In fact, certain m...

Catholics do. We shake hands or hug during the sign of peace and a lot of people hold hands when praying. That was not my experience, and (IIRC) there's actually no rule requiring touching. My larger point is that "come to our church and get touched" is poor marketing, even when marketing...

It appears Powell has/had various part-time jobs. One employer at a farmer's market wouldn't let her work without a mask.

But appears her primary benefactor is a small bookstore owned by fellow travelers. (They also were in DC.)

This isn’t a trial, though, is it? All court proceedings are presumed to be open; closing them requires a good cause. Having said that, I'm a little surprised that the prosecutor did even go through the motions to argue that a closed proceeding was necessary to protect ongoing investigations. * * *...
