Military stuffs... Just saw that Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Ron Shurer died at age 41, lung cancer. Of course the news showed Ron being presented the medal by ShitGibbon. So the MOH is a Congressional Honor, not Presidential, he just pins it on. So my question is, can the recipient ask ...

Re: A Different Future

In this scenario the summer "reopening of America" goes tragically awry and the corona virus spreads alarmingly, tragically in the coming summer, fall and winter. In the U.S. deaths spiral over 250,000 and a second devastating shut down ruins the economy closing countless business for good and send...

Well, in Northern Virginia, where I live, it’s blue. Out at our cabin, where the ABC store is, it’s red, red, red. They cannot believe VA went for Democrats in the last election.

Re: Coronavirus Cancellations & Postponements / Travel & Events COVID-19

I went to the ABC store in Luray, VA today (I’ve developed a taste for gin). Everyone working there in masks, as was I. Lady at the store sprayed my hands with disinfectant. She was nice about it... asked, “would you like me to spray your hands with disinfectant?” “Of course!”, I said. Then she show...

Re: What are you watching on TV these days?

We started watching The Wire on Amazon Prime. It rotates off May 21. I actually watched it a few years ago and think it is one of the best shows ever made. I agree, normally I hate cops shows, but back when I watched it premiere on HBO I was hooked. "A man's gotta' have a code..." I recently re-wat...

Add Georgia to your list. It appears that pretrial immunity is available in Georgia for self defense irrespective of stand-your-ground. Re: The Ahmaud Arbery case

A Georgia criminal lawyer did some lawsplain . Spoiler: Law's not on the perpetrators' side. Excellent article! That bit about a pre-trial immunity motion was very interesting. Do other states have that? According to that article it appears that the defense can ask the judge to decide a question Wh...

Amtrak is opening up some services that had been reduced or suspended earlier in the year. Now everyone is required to wear a mask, almost sort of. Face Mask Policy: To protect customers and employees, all customers in stations and on trains and thruway buses are required to wear a facial covering,...

Re: The Ahmaud Arbery case

Where is the evidence this "video" was from a different night? Now we're going to assume facts not in evidence? IIRC, one of the perpetrators referenced it, which would be (somewhat weak, IMO) circumstantial evidence of its existence. * * * The felony/misdemeanor distinction appears to be relevant ...

Help me out here. These days, when I hear someone say "this isn't about being a democrat or a republican" when recommending an article, website, or video, red flags shoot up in my brain. I admit that I find myself thinking, "Yeah, right; this is gonna be a right-wing conspiracy theory or something....

There’s an Army JAG named Augustus Turner. I don’t know him personally, but some of my JAG friends do. Anyway, he posted a short essay on his Facebook feed about jogging while black. It’s some mighty powerful stuff. I am a black man who jogs. When I jog, I always do so alone. I am also a Soldier, an...

As an aside, I’ve seen a lot of my friends embracing the natural color of their hair, and I, for one, find it beautiful.

My brother and sister have gorgeous silver. Mine’s mousy brownish-gray. But I’m OK with it.
