Re: Bundy Trials - Oregon

The U.S. District Court - District of Oregon - Admissions page indicates that out of state attorneys may take the oath in absentia, but indicates that it has to be done in person at another district court Interesting. Not that common elsewhere, in my experience. Eh? I was admitted to the Eastern Di...

Federal court admission isn't the same as state court. He's a member of the Oregon Bar, but he hasn't been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.

Re: Bundy Trials - Oregon

What a shitshow. At this point, I wonder if even the appearance of GIL himself could make this case into more of a clusterfuck of obnoxiously incompetent lawyering than it already is. WAG: Arnold wanted out and jumped at the first opportunity, forgetting to bother checking on Philpot's license statu...

Re: Bundy Trials - Oregon

I can't speak for Utah specifically, but I do know that in most states, losing a license in another state is a basis for Bar discipline in and of itself. It works that way for most licensed professions here in California, but that may not be true for everywhere. I'm not aware of any state which doe...

It cracks me up that Ritzheimer can't grasp why a Dream Team of big-name lawyers isn't lining up to represent them.

Re: Bundy Trials - Nevada

The interesting thing about this video is that it describes the day of the confrontation at Bunkerville in 2014 without the revisionist perspective that we so often hear from the Bundyites. Here the Bundyites are described by two of their own a day after the confrontation as "militia"; th...

Administrative laziness? Same reason things like expungements of criminal cases never get sent to NCIC.

A renewed motion for leave to apply for PHV for Klayman? That should go over well. Because Judge Navarro was just kidding when she said "No" the first two times. Third time's the charm.

Yeah, but she probably won't. She'll deny it and move on. I wouldn't mind seeing sanctions, but I can see why she'd just drop it.

Look, I'm in favor of judges and bar discipline offices being more aggressive, but this rant is really off-base. We bean-counter types and you lawyer types obviously have different perceptions as to untoward character, ethics and behavior. The CBA takes a very dim view of its licensees repeating the...

I concur. That said, having managed an office of public defenders for 12 years, I can say they aren't in it for the money. Almost all of the public defenders I have had the pleasure and honor to work with during that time I found to be motivated by an unrelenting dedication to due process and justi...

The legal analysis is top-notch. Lequieu's attorney is, of course, doing what he ought to be doing and looking out for his or her client's interests. Bingo. It's not Lequieu's attorney's job - or, for that matter, Lequieu's job - to give a shit about any defendant other than Lequieu. Exactly. The w...

That might all sound good to Amy Baggio, but aren't most of the other defense attorneys government employees? Re: Bundy Trials - Oregon

I can see making the argument in a clear case of discrimination, as in, "they charged all the black folks but none of the white folks." But what I think is most likely happening in this case is that the prosecution said to some selected (i.e., malleable) people, "look, there are two ...
