Re: On Stage: Musicals, Plays, Operas, and other Performing Arts

Congrats, Ms. Hecate!  The mini cast party was a blast - it was held at the brewery where we're doing the show, and about half the cast was able to make it. I am by far the oldest member of the cast - most of them are in their early-mid 20's and I turn 57 right before the show opens...

Re: On Stage: Musicals, Plays, Operas, and other Performing Arts

Hey all, I just got cast in a very low budget production of "the Scottish play", you know the one. What part(s)? As part of your "homework": Season two of "Slings & Arrows." Hecate! Queen of the witches, goddess of magic, and all around bad-ass bitch. She's usually cut, but not always - this is the...

Re: On Stage: Musicals, Plays, Operas, and other Performing Arts

Hey all, I just got cast in a very low budget production of "the Scottish play", you know the one. I think I'm going to like this theatre company a lot already - there will be four rehearsals, one performance (in a brewery and the actors get to drink) and they're having the cast party before the fir...

Poor Ginger has an ear hematoma. We took her to the vet last week, they drained it and gave her prednisone and ear drops, but a few days later it was all swollen up again. I took her back today, and they drained it again and installed a cannula to let the fluid drain continuously. She also has to we...

Re: Hijack this thread

Yesterday I took Mr K for his neurosurgery followup from his head-bonking incident in late June. The good news: the subdural hematoma is gone, and his brain looks fine. Well, as fine as his brain gets. The bad news - my anxiety is still through the roof. I had to take an Ativan while waiting for his...

As a woman of a certain age, I’d like to see you do Mistress Quickly’s recounting of Falstaff’s death in Henry V.
Ooh, I’ll keep that one in mind! Thanks!

And yes, I’m finding this speech to be a delicate tightrope indeed. And I’m loving every inch of it.

Re: Hijack this thread

So my production of 12 Angry Jurors closed last Sunday. It was a near sold out run, and I couldn't have asked for a lovelier group of people to work with. This was my second production in a row, so I'm taking a little break from theatre for now. So what's my problem? I have a two day a week job at ...

I'm straight but I keep falling in love with gay guys that I meet in my yoga classes. They are so handsome with their smooth sculpted chests, and so nice and kind. My current gay BFF and I talk for hours every day about yoga gossip and everything else under the sun. He tells me that he has always b...

Re: Earthquake! (or maybe Volcano!)

I was in a pickup rehearsal for my production of 12 Angry Jurors in Woodland Hills when last night’s quake hit. Juror 3 had just started his final monologue when the rolling started. As it went on, we briefly debated ducking under the sturdy jury table. I think we really felt it because we were all ...

Megan Rapinoe benched :crying: Yeah, I don't get it. Although it was said it's not for disciplinary reasons, she is listed as a substitute, and could be brought on later in the game. can be brought in later in the game. Maybe strategy, keep the powder dry if they need help later. I heard...

JD Ryznar@JDRyznar You guys keeping up with QAnon? JFK Jr. is gonna reveal himself as Q at Trump's 4th of July Party and usher in a new era. I am not shitting you. My goodness! :o you do need hugs. :grouphug: But 12 Angry Jurors is a complicated hair show? For me it’s a complicated hair show. I have very long fine hair. I’m a bit matronly especially in the costume they gave me. We’ve set the show in 1968. So I decided to do a sort of French twist, which is ha...

Actually, Estiveo is not a Democrat. Estiveo is a Decline to State and has been known to vote for Republicans in the past.
We're called "No Party Preference" nowadays. I preferred Decline to State - it sounds almost mysterious. No Party Preference sounds wishy washy.

I just finished the last of the Sookie Stackhouse novels. My friend gave me the first few back in June, so I'd have something to read at the polls on Election Day. They're enjoyable light reading, perfect for reading at the polls or on the bus. I've also finished her Midnight Texas series and her Ha...

I love the phrase "attended 12 semesters of college, as most Americans did, with paying scores." Let's see: 1: he doesn't say "graduated" 2: I'm not sure most Americans have attended college. 3: for those who have, I suspect the norm is 8 semesters, not 12. And there's probably more there I can't b...

I have finally figured out what is causing my hip pain and tightness. In 2016 I suffered a torn meniscus in my left knee, which did not require surgery but which forced me to wear a knee brace for weeks, which messed with my gait. I had three sessions of PT once the brace come off, and the PT person...
