Re: Elizabeth Warren 2020

Took me a while, and I'm glad there's still time before the primaries, but I've definitely moved toward Warren. Not saying I'm locked in yet, but right now there's nobody in the field I like more.

Re: UK - United Kingdom - England, Wales, Scotland, N. Ireland

You suspect a left/right driving confusion Mike? It's easily done, especially if there's little traffic around to guide one. At first when you switch to the left you're very careful as your brain screams "danger! danger! danger!" all the time as so many inputs feel wrong: car tipped slightly down t...

https://twitter.com/guardiannews/status/1181586512766525440?s=19 I've been to that base quite a few times - it was the nearest to where we lived for a couple of years. Leaving the base, if you're turning right, going toward Oxford, it's pretty hard to wind up on the wrong side of the road. Turning ...

Also, there are a lot of people - particularly in institutions like the National Security Council - who are career personnel on loan from various agencies (ie "deep staters"). Regardless of their personal political beliefs, they tend to have both the inclination and incentive to comply with applicab...

Arrogant might be the wrong word. Unwarranted self-confidence, perhaps. In addition to his rather remarkable popularity polling, he also still seems incredibly ambivalent about Brexit. I don't know how much of that is from his own personal Euroskepticism and how much is fear of alienating some of th...

Re: LEAVE Brexit Vote: Leave EU Thu 23 June - Market and US Election Impact

I almost hate to ask, but is there no chance of a minority agreeing to someone else besides Corbyn as a caretaker PM to take Boris and a no deal Brexit out of the picture? Ok the minority would, but there is no way Corbyn would. The guys is cluelessly arrogant. It would litterelly be like asking Be...

Re: LEAVE Brexit Vote: Leave EU Thu 23 June - Market and US Election Impact

My understanding (which could be mistaken) is that if the minority parties can form a coalition within 14 days of a no-confidence vote, there's no automatic general election. If that's correct, then Boris has to tread a fine line - be obnoxious enough to push people into calling the vote, yet not so...

POLITICO: What UK Supreme Court ruling means for Brexit Perhaps most significantly, the court's judgment appears to close off one potential option for No. 10 Downing Street — a further prorogation to force through a no-deal Brexit. Given the unambiguous nature of the judgment (and the fact that it ...

Re: LEAVE Brexit Vote: Leave EU Thu 23 June - Market and US Election Impact

I'm reading the decision now - it's going to be very interesting to see how the court handled justiciability. I've got no doubt that a similar question would, if arising in the USA, be non-justiciable under the political question doctrine, so it will be fascinating to see how the court handled that ...

That's a wreck that reminds me of the " Hazmat Rule of Thumb " - which I would definitely be applying if I was anywhere near that burning tank car. ??? Stay upwind of the BFRC?? Close one eye. Hold out your arm. If you can't block your view of the entire incident with your thumb, you're too close.

Very bright, absolutely. But nowhere near his self-estimation.
