Re: The Ahmaud Arbery case

I was disturbed by the focus of the defense on Ahmaud's supposed auditory hallucinations and the claims that he was "off his meds." I don't really see the relevance of that in this case, and it's a clear attempt to dirty up the victim. What actions were taken are on the recording. Many people have ...

Re: Scary mugshots

A Department of Corrections warrant has been issued for the arrest of Michaela Diamond. Michaela has a criminal history of violence and is considered dangerous. This is a pet irritation of mine. If the suspect had been a man named "Michael Diamond," the second sentence would have read, "Diamond has...

Re: Live Coverage - Protests In Multiple Cities Over George Floyd's Death -- Moving Toward The White House 5/29 Onward

These letters feel like a trend . . . one coordinated against OSG and his worst instincts. Makes me wonder if the National Guard told impotus to pound sand, and Barr then skimmed the Federal Prison system for the thugs we now see in line to protect whatever. Question: [highlight]what are the laws a...

Hmmm. Need a lip reader. I heard "sucked up" Yes/no?
I heard "sucked up" too. But his mouth looked like an "f"
Same here, but it immediately follows, "I remember the mistakes that you made. I remember how you..." So I'm going with "f".

Re: The Ahmaud Arbery case

(As an aside, preliminary hearings are routinely used by defendants to fish for more information. The intent often is not to put the prosecution to its burden, but to learn what prosection knows. And also to lock witnesses into testimony, in case they go sideways at trial.) It’s often a fruitful ar...

Re: Live Coverage - Protests In Multiple Cities Over George Floyd's Death -- Moving Toward The White House 5/29 Onward

The cynic in me says that this is all theater, and that cooler heads have prevailed based on the public response. But in an effort to avoid Trump appearing weak, Esper is appearing to buck Trump. The narrative will be that Trump wanted to use the active duty military, and the only reason he's not is...

I took a walk in the Reston Town Center last night around 10:30 pm. They were boarding up the windows on the Sephora. I read that some Sephora locations, including in Philly, NYC, and Arizona, have been looted. I don't know if Sephora's policy now is to just board up all of their stores, in which ca...

There are at least five separate law enforcement agencies within the DOJ, including the BOP, FBI, ATF, DEA, and US Marshalls. I'm seeing a lot of people on facebook freaking out about the "we're with DOJ" line. Transparency would be a good look for the government right now. What's wrong with just sa...
