Long-awaited PNW Meetup!!

If you are a garden enthusiast, Crystal Springs Rhododendron Gardens in Southeast Portland has a magnificent collection. It may be a bit early in the season, but it is quite impressive. I’m back next weekend to catch the closing night of the opera (opening night was FABULOUS!!), and I think I’ll hi...

Long-awaited PNW Meetup!!

Having a blast. Yesterday was Art, today is Gardens. Tomorrow is yet to be, but will be meeting strangers-not-strangers. Also, this place is warmer than I thought. 71° today, but everyone is still in jackets, fleece, and sweaters. Plus have I mentioned chatty? We aren’t in New England anymore. :oldl...

Landed in Portlandia, chasing the sunset from around the Midwest. The sun won. The pilots must have had a spectacular view.

Where are the cherry blossoms? Specific instructions for the cab driver, please. Look forward to meeting folks!

I’m just me. After 43 years married, W2 doesn’t travel with me much. I like to suck the culture out of wherever I go. :towel: Back-to-back museums, galleries, neighborhoods, tours, etc. He likes to rest. And hates the process of getting there. So no scenic sleeper train rides, for example. (Portland...

So, that must mean you're staying in the area. Probably downtown at one of the many hotels. There is plenty of good dining downtown if you want traditional steak and seafood. I'll make a list and post it later. Staying near the Art Museum and PSU. Also looking for suggestions to places that I MUST ...

W2 and I were on vacation in Germany one day when we turned on the TV to see an odd sight: a single white truck-thing going down a multi lane highway. In German. Couldn’t figure out what the heck was going on. Eventually figured it out. Whenever anyone asks about the trip, I have to Google “white br...

Definitely!

Not many takers, it seems. How about dinner on Saturday April 20? Some local pick the venue. I’ll be in the PSU area.

April 8 in Maine has a 78% chance of clouds. But today was glorious. 62 degrees with perfectly cloudless skies. W2 and I went out to the parking lot of our condo building a few minutes before the maximum totality (96.7%). There were about a dozen people with eclipse glasses. I took the obligatory co...

I'm game. I'm busy on the 27th, but I'm free the previous weekend. Can I ask what brings you to Portland? Sure! Well, a mini meetup. I’ll be in Portland Oregon (The Other PortlandTM) on Friday April 18 all day, Saturday April 19 to 5:00, and Sunday April 20 all day. Also, Saturday April 27. So a 1-day extravaganza would be awesome.

Any takers?
