Re: LEAVE Brexit Vote: Leave EU Thu 23 June - Market and US Election Impact

With apologies to my British friends - There's clearly no withdrawal plan available that everyone can agree to. At some point someone is seriously going to have to make a decision. This can't go on forever like this. The problem is the Remainers out there just want it all to be over so that other i...

Ambassador Sondland, now would be a very good time to call your attorney. Bill Barr won't be AG forever, and lying to Congress is still a crime.

On the other side, a whole lot of people are going to have to quit public life altogether. Its going to be like being an ex-Nazi, its not something you can just get over. Because it would never have gone anywhere near as sideways if only the Republicans hod stood up to him and made him act like a g...

How is it possible that Benczkowski didn't know that Rudy was under investigation by SDNY when we have already heard that Barr was briefed about the investigation as early as February, shortly after taking the job? Come to think of it, given that this wasn't exactly a national security-type investig...

With regard to his constant threats to sue Schiff/demands for his deposition, Trump's Twitter feed is going to be a hoot if/when Barr or Cipillone or Sekulow or whoever walks him through the legal effect of Article I, Section 6, Clause 1 of the Constitution, also known as the Speech or Debate Clause...

What a cosmic joke. A good and decent person like Cummings dies at 68, while walking corpses and downright evil people (the sitting President and Henry Kissinger come immediately to mind) seem destined to live forever.

I really, really want to know the dates and times those airline tickets were purchased. Especially Rudy's. Eh? I don't know how much stock I put in the "they were flying to Vienna to flee from the law" theory. First, not all of them bolted. Second, if you're gonna hop a plane out of the country bef...

Re: Rudy Giuliani

Some House members are arguing that getting bogged down in inherent contempt and/or a court fight over Giuliani's non-compliance would be taking their eyes off the ball. I find this argument persuasive. Realistically, what documents could Giuliani provide that would be more damning than the transcri...

Re: Syria - Stepping into the Void

One can, while wholeheartedly denouncing Erdogan as a bloodthirsty autocrat who thinks the only thing Enver Pasha did wrong was to conduct his genocide more or less in secret, appreciate the political savvy of this move. Trump told him point blank he could go into Syria. Now Trump wants to save his ...

GOPers seem pretty confident that Sondland will have Trump's back. I suspect he wouldn't be complying unless he was contriving it in such a way as to be at least perceived as helpful to the President. Just like John Dean did for Nixon.... John Dean hadn't given millions of his own dollars to Richar...

It's the same legal system that's allowing him to run out the clock on subpoenas and indictments, so I would think he'd be more appreciative.

The opinion upholding the subpoena is excruciatingly detailed and thorough. If you read it (and I understand if you won't), you will see how having competent counsel in the House is critical. Good job.

Of course, the ruling will now be stayed for six more months while Trump's lawyers try to get it reheard en banc and Noel Francisco makes up some utterly nonsensical reason why SCOTUS needs to take up the case.

Window dressing for Boris. Any deal that's going to be acceptable to the EU is going to be unacceptable to the ERG Brexit fanatics and DUP hard-liners upon whose votes Boris is absolutely dependent if he wants to get said deal through the House of Commons.

CNN.com's current headline is "Giuliani's entanglements seriously threaten Trump's presidency," and all I can do is laugh at the possibility of Rudy - of all people - being the thing that brings down Trump. Somehow, it seems like that would be fitting. I'm not quite sure why.

I still think it's a long con, but I'll enjoy the fireworks. I would enjoy it a lot more if I weren't metaphysically certain that they can both look forward to a lucrative book deal and then five-figures a pop on the lecture circuit telling the whole world how they were the only thing standing betw...

I'm being a polling nerd and looking at the full results and cross-tabs in that Fox News poll. The top-line number of 51% isn't remotely the end of the bad news for Trump in there. Question 56: "What do you think is more important to President Trump?" The choices were given as "Doing what's best for...
