Re: Is Anyone Just Tired?

Yesterday, after walking the dog, I returned home to find my parrot, Molly, has learned to ask Echo to play Britney Spears.

I'm not sure I'm gonna make it.

Re: New Diseases - Coronavirus

After finally getting a package of masks sent to Sugar, I've been sewing masks for friends, neighbors and family members. Just when I think I can get back to the workers who can use the homemade masks, I get another request. Glad to do it. I was wondering if/when we reach the lock-down stage where v...

Re: On a Personal Level--Coronavirus COVID-19 Cancellations, etc.

Florida and other states doing little will wait until they have a lot of deaths. Then act after many people are already infected. Lee County (FL) commissioners met again this morning to consider a formal shutdown/shelter-in-place order. It didn't pass therefore we continue with without a legal orde...

Re: Corona Virus Whackadoodles, Whackjobs and Conspiracy Theories (other than from the White House)

We drove past our small, satellite hospital a few days ago and, yes, the ER is around the corner from the main entrance. And there's three large white tents right at the entrance. I don't know if they have any covid patients there, but if they do, we'll probably never know.

Mrs. V. is back from the HEB. She says it wasn't busy at all. Plenty of produce and eggs. No toilet paper at all. (I think drug dealers are using it as an alternative currency.) Bakery, deli and cheese shop closed. (Probably those employees are helping restocking efforts.) No hand sanitizer but did...

Did the other countries just form their own non-US WTO subsidiary? Or did they tell trump, "Fuck off, wanker. We're doing it live."

Re: Death Throes of the Trump Presidency

Sadly, Florida was purple, now turning red. Isn't Florida behind in terms of lockdown? If COVID hits them hard that might not reflect well in the polls for Republicans. Thankfully our (red) county seems to be taking it seriously. If you've seen Neon's posts, Lee County has been posting cell phone a...

They really really are begging. Lee County, don't mess this up. It's kinda like them saying your 'Rents are coming home Monday... don't have that weekend party and trash the house or there will be hell to pay. :smoking: Screenshot_20200328-100107-151.jpg Just got back from JoAnn's. Our county kicked out one of those cellphone alert emergency popup messages to everyone. Screenshot_20200327-165848-147.jpg This is basically the resident's LAST chance. The county commissioners delayed closing (ORDERING shelter-in-place) the county earlier this week. If these kids don't heed the r...

It's taken a couple of days for me to feel like posting this. My mother passed away on Wednesday (apparently not virus related) and my wife has symptoms that very well might be coronavirus. At 62 with asthma, lung scarring from histoplasmosis, and a family member that lives with us and works in a h...

I just tried the folded bandana mask and it does work, but test your ponytail holders. The super thick ones aren't as good. They don't have as much stretch and are bulky behind your ears. Thinner and stretchier is better. Also, the mask felt kind of thick to me. I could breathe through it but it was...

Our beaches are (finally) closed. We have the webcam up on the tv from the Lani Kai in Ft. Myers Beach. It's so strange to see not a single soul on the sand. It almost looks like a still photo until you notice the water moving (it's the gulf, we don't have waves, not big ones anyway).

Re: Fogbow Arts and Crafts Club

Did anyone decide if ponytail holders would work? I have millions of those. I can wash them to see if they'll hold up. Not the fluffy ones, of course, but the ones that look like wrapped elastic cord. Combined? Have the (possible shorter) strings knotted into the ponytail holder at each side. Makes...
