I wonder how many military men are banging their heads over dotus reveling the potential number of casualities. Iran will be able to estimate what targets may have been in sight of the bombers, and especially knows now that this was only to be a tit-for-tat. If the planes have really been in the skies and en route to Iranian airspace, the Iranians may have picked up the size of the attack force depending how far off they still were from the border. Again giving them a further hint of the US intentions.

So we attacked the computers that control their anti-aircraft missiles just for the hell of it.

The Iranians will now figure out what we did and be able to defend against it so when we actually need to stop the computers that control their anti-aircraft missiles we won't be able to and they will shoot down our planes.

Am I missing something?

Is there a better thread for this?

Well, since his Mira-Lardo is in Florida, maybe you could use our Florida Man thread. That seems appropriate, no?

Inspiration on conspiration theory on the downed drone (found on Liveleak)
Did a rogue US general ordered a Global Hawk drone to fly into Iran?
Evidences are surfacing that a pro-Israel rogue US general has ordered a drone to fly into Iran to be shot down. The MQ-4C Global Hawk cost over $200 million each (equals 3 x F-35) was flown into Iran to provoke Trump into going to war with Iran.

With all the excited outrage that the military and warhawks express when a US boat or plane is harassed in thr Middle East, I wonder how they'd feel if a hostile power was patroling up and down the US coast on the edge of international waters or airspace?

I guess we have some idea from the Cuban Missile Crisis. It's fine to go apeshit about others doing things you don't like near your own backyard but how dare they be upset when you place heavy offensive weaponry on their borders!

I'm not an isolationist but I feel everybody would be happier if countries generally restricted their military adventures to their own continents.

Well, we do sorta have that with Alaska. Russian military planes run along our border and there are occasional arguments about if they crossed into our airspace or not.

Though yeah... I could only imagine the US outrage if Iranian warships were going up and down the east or west coast, occasionally dipping into areas we claim are our waters but Iran replies with 'well, but Cuba doesn't draw them that way'!

As for Cuba,.. I'm actually in the camp that would have liked to see the blockade fail and Cuba get armed. It might have done the US some good to have some actual risk rather than paranoia, since people seem to react far more recklessly to risk they likely know deep down isn't real and are more cautious when actually threatened.

He can obliterate everything that Obama did, but somehow he's completely helpless to do anything about this one little thing. Poor, helpless pustule.

Of course, the base will believe him. Just like they believe that all these women are coming to our border with children that don't "belong" to them. Yes, and the real parents are just quietly accepting the fact that their children were kidnapped.

Trump complains aides he hired are trying to push him into war with Iran, says report: 'It's so disgusting'

Donald Trump has reportedly complainted that his closest advisers “want to push [the US] into a war” with Iran, following his decision to cancel military strikes against the Islamic Republic.

“These people want to push us into a war, and it’s so disgusting,” the US president said about his inner circle of aides, according to The Wall Street Journal.

I firmly believe that the only reason that Trump called off the attack on Iran was that someone convinced him that it could be used against him in his re-election campaign.

I also firmly believe that the Pentagon informed him early in the process about the potential casualties and he pooh-poohed the deaths as the price of war.

Bolton went to a General and said "The boss wants a war, but needs plausible deniability, so we need you to start the war for us"

And Trump told Pompeo "I really need a thing where people shoot at each other kind of thing but well, not like a Viet Nam thing because that was a, well it was very far away and well, it was a bad thing and we want a closer thing, like a when we won Pearl Harbor thing that people are all in for because the ratings will be,,did you know my ratings on The Apprentice were the bestest ratings ever for a TV show? Bigger than the Beatles and ever, it was bigly successful but I never got an Emmy because Obama and Hillary met the Russians on an airplane on a runway for an hour and that's how they got away with tapwiring my cell phone at Trump Tower, with the wires and it was the biggest travesty in American History and. HER E-MAILS amd I love Wikileaks, have you seen the Wikileaks? and then I negotiated the best deal ever to get Merv Griffin's Casino in Atlantic City and they were, trust me on this, they were the most profitable casinos in history and we declared bankruptcy and sold them to the creditors because it made sense, a good busniman knows you don't pay the banks $3 billion just because you owe them $3 billion, you negotiate and get a better, but I didn't want to buy an NFL Team, that was just fake news and CNN Made it up, I never wanted a football team, not even when I owned a football team..(actual transcript, goes on for 15 more minutes)

So then, Pompeo went to Bolton and said "The Fuhrer President had too much Adderall with his KFC Breakfast Bucket and he's a little antsy so if he tries to start a war, give it an hour or two before you call whoever the phuck is in charge at The Pentagon this week. And Thank goodness for that mess because The Fuhrer President doesn't know himself who he put in charge and thinks Jared is the new Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff...he's not is he? I was asleep at 4 in the morning and didin't get to read last night's tweets. Anyhow, ex-nay on the Bombs-nay, Okay?

And Kelleyanne Conway talked to reporters on her way out to her car to get her virgin child Adrenachrome donor that ''I think its just terrible when Obama let our country get one of our Drones shot down, and needlessly puts the lives of the pilots at risk by ...what ever....

And then the President ordered them to "bomb the shit out of them!, I mean, they shot down our Aircraft Carrier and they cut in on a story about me on Fox to show it when it happened and do you know that does for the ratings and so we're gonna, we're gonna have the best war ever, and we're gonna do it close to us, I mean, it'll be the closest war we ever had, trust me, and... "(actual transcript, goes on for 45 more minutes)

So while he was setting and waiting on the planes to bomb the bad guys and on having phone sex with Tucker Carlson, Tucker, between slurps, said "Mien FuhrerMr Presdient, Iran isn't close to us at all, its almost as far away as Viet Nam, so people might not like a war with them. It might hurt your ratings, even."

So then, the President thought about it for a minute, and called the Producers corporal acting like he's in charge at the Pentagon and told them he wasn't sure, so call back the bombers, go to a commercial, then run a tease about a war, do some polling to see how its gonna affect the ratings, and end it with a "Tune in next week and see what happens next...."

And there you have it, The Rest of the Story!

Trump: ‘I’m Not Happy’ With Fed Chair Jerome Powell, ‘I Don’t Think He’s Done a Good Job’
Justin Baragona
Updated 06.23.19 6:46PM ET / Published 06.23.19 10:09AM ET
NBC

During his interview on NBC’s Meet the Press, President Trump blasted Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, claiming Powell has “raised interest rates too fast.” Insisting to host Chuck Todd that he never threatened to demote Powell despite reports to the contrary, the president complained that he hasn’t gotten the benefit of low rates but that the economy will “bull through it.”

“But I’m not happy with his actions,” Trump said. “No, I don’t think he’s done a good job. I think this, if he didn’t raise rates Obama had very low rates. So Obama was playing with funny money. I wasn’t. I’m playing with the real stuff.”

White House Is Pressing for Additional Options, Including in Cyberspace, to Deter Iranian Attacks

By Julian E. Barnes, Eric Schmitt and Thomas Gibbons-Neff
June 23, 2019

WASHINGTON — American intelligence and military officers are working on additional clandestine plans to counter Iranian aggression in the Persian Gulf, pushed by the White House to develop new options that could help deter Tehran without escalating tensions into a full-out conventional war, according to current and former officials.

The goal is to develop operations similar to the cyberattacks conducted on Thursday and that echo the shadow war the United States has accused Tehran of carrying out with attacks on oil tankers in the Middle East, according to American officials briefed on the effort. Iran maintains that it was not responsible for the attacks on the tankers.

The cyberattacks were aimed at an Iranian intelligence group that American officials believe was behind a series of attacks on tankers in the Persian Gulf region. The American operation was intended to take down the computers and networks used by the intelligence group, at least temporarily. A separate online operation was aimed at taking out computers that control Iranian missile launches.

The White House has told military and intelligence officials it also now wants options in line with the kind of operations conducted by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, the officials said.

President Trump has made clear he believes that, at this point, a direct strike would be escalatory, although he has repeatedly warned Iran against further aggression.
