Money means more than people to some.

@banikarim
the president mocking asian people by mimicking their accents at a fundraiser in front of 500 people isn’t even the headline or lead of this story because apparently that is totally fine now.

From Axios -

Scoop: Inside Trump's strange pen-pal diplomacy with Justin Trudeau
President Trump has sent highly unusual, Sharpie-written notes to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at least twice, Axios has learned.

One missive was so odd, the Canadian ambassador double-checked with the White House to be sure it wasn't a prank. In at least one instance, Trudeau also wrote to Trump. The exchange of handwritten notes, never before reported, was confirmed by several sources with firsthand knowledge.

The diplomatic missives include:
  • A torn-out Bloomberg Businessweek cover featuring a portrait of Justin Trudeau.
  • A back-and-forth about U.S.-Canada trade figures that culminated in Trudeau sending Trump a printout of the website of the Office of the United States Trade Representative with a smiley face beside the U.S. government figure showing America has a trade surplus with Canada (contrary to Trump's claims).
The article is pretty interesting.

That's how he communicated for decades with people he sees on the TV, before he became strong with the cyber. He sent one to Nancy Pelosi back when she first became Speaker and congratulated her. He especially liked to send stuff to news anchors and other TV hosts, including free invites to his golf courses. This is why a lot of them back in the 80s and 90s would be hesitant to say anything bad about him on the air.

It was and short, so yay! Apparently, in a Merkel-like ongoing exchange, Trudeau couldn't make trump understand that we have a trade surplus with Canada. The guy with the nuke codes couldn't understand basic fourth grade math, as in: -2 + 5 equals a positive number. He was only focused on the -2.

What is the probability that DJT is using his tariff manoeuvres to manipulate the stock markets? It seems too simplistic to blame this on incompetence or volatility.

Manu Raju✔ @mkraju

Trump, at official WH event in PA: "We'll have to hit Pocahontas very hard again if she does win... What a group: Pocahontas and Sleepy Joe."
Energy speech or campaign rally?

To which Trump replied, Fuck the law. I don't give a fuck about the law. I want my fucking money.

Kelly O'Donnell✔ @KellyO

At official WH event in Pennsylvania, the president is talking about getting sued under the emoluments clause regarding his private business ownership while in office and pivots to complain that @BarackObama was paid for his book "sixty million dollars."

Trump was pleased with the optics of the G7 last year, an adviser said. Trump says he dominated Trudeau there, the adviser added, and loves the viral photo of himself sitting with his arms crossed as world leaders hover over him. Trump also relished leaving the summit early — snub to Trudeau, who Trump said had treated him with disrespect.
What a total asshole.

The rally didn't go so well. Workers were required to attend, then weren't allowed to leave when their shift ended.

So if they were paid to be there, was that a campaign contribution?

Only partially Trump related but still interesting.

The Trump golf resort funded by government loans in Puerto Rico that went bankrupt leaving local taxpayers with the loss (Snopes rates it mixed but I rate it mostly true) is now a Hyatt:

Watch @LouDobbs tonight on @FoxBusiness to see me discuss the @realDonaldTrump rally from last night in NH. It was a massive crowd with thousands more outside.

I saw a few photos of the arena while trump was speaking. Over his right shoulder were lots of empty seats. It's a shame they made the massive crowd of thousands sit outside.

Yet again, the Right does something they accuse the Left of doing - in this case, paying for people to show up at political events.

And what a bribe - stand and support Trump and get paid overtime!

Perhaps they didn't want pictures of attendees hurling up :puker: or hurling their lunch at Donnie.

This wasn’t a rally but a taxpayer-funded official event, I believe.

The overtime is a technical thing which I'm familiar with. In a plant at the Motorcar Company, you used to automatically get paid overtime for anything over 8 hours in one day, until the 2011 contract. Now, you get overtime for anything during the 24 hours of Saturday, and double time during the 24 hours of Sunday, but during the week, if you work 12 hours on Monday and Thursday, but then don't work (or get paid for an excused absence or vacation day) on Friday, you only worked 40 hours for the week and don't get any overtime. Sounds like the rest of the world and it is, but to autoworkers its a big deal, because for 40 odd years anything over 8 hours on a given day was time and half, and those who were around for that are pretty much not over losing it. Normally, if you take Friday off, you burn a vacation day and still get the OT for the days you stayed late, but, and this happens, if we're running short late in the week, and you worked over early in the week, you can get sent home on Thursday and/or Friday for half a day (everyone gets 4 hours pay no matter what if they show up, sending them home early means they still get 4 hours) that 8 hours OT you worked on Monday and Tuesday ends up being straight time. And when you took it expecting it to be overtime, well, it pisses people off.

On the other side, if you didn't stay over early in the week, and you get sent home two or three times late in the week, or even if you get TLO'd for Friday and don't get paid the 4 hour show up pay, you still get paid the equal of 36, 38 or 40 hours "Short Work Week" pay, depending on rules I still don't exactly understand. I think the new people only get 36 hours if they work fewer, and the legacy employees get 38 the first few times a year it happens and then the 40 hour minimum after that.

But anyhow, generally everyone works over 4 hours a day or two every week for the overtime, and if they get sent home or TLOd for a day where they don't get 40 earned hours, they lose the OT pay for the 12 hour days they worked expecting it. So telling them they can take Thursday off to avoid having to listen to Individual 1 lie to you for an hour and have to stand around for 9 hours more before and after, but you have to come back Friday for straight time, wouldn't work out very well. One reason I'm fairly certain you'll never see him come to a car plant, we sure as hell ain't shutting down the lines for the day, and probably several hours on a few days before for security, to let him lie, and while I'm pretty sure he'd have a lot of fans at any plant I've ever been in, there are also more than a few guys who would make a scene and you can bet your boots the UAW would never agree to the "no protest" BS.
