I’ll start with Rod Rosenstein, who hasn’t tweeted since January 4. This is not new news, but it reminds me why I can’t stand him.

Rod Rosenstein, a former deputy attorney general at the Department of Justice, has been providing counsel on cybersecurity and national security to NSO Group, the Israeli software surveillance firm accused of spying on human rights activists and journalists, according to court documents obtained by CyberScoop.

Dr Deborah Birx, the former Trump White House coronavirus taskforce coordinator, is taking a private sector job, joining a Texas manufacturer that says its purifiers clean Covid-19 from the air within minutes and from surfaces within hours.

Birx will join Dallas-based ActivePure as chief scientific and medical adviser, she and the company said on Friday.

An expert in global health, Birx came to the White House in 2020 to help lead the Trump administration’s response to the pandemic.

But she was criticised for not standing up to former president Donald Trump as he played down the virus, predicted it would disappear, and questioned whether ingesting bleach could help cure infected Americans.

Billionaire Betsy DeVos fattened her fortune considerably from various business interests during her four-year run as education secretary under former President Donald Trump.

DeVos, who is reportedly worth more than $2 billion, reported outside earnings from dividends, interest and rents of at least $225 million and “potentially well over $414 million” during her time in the Cabinet role, according to an analysis of her financial disclosures by watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

“It is impossible to know the exact amount because DeVos’s income is reported in broad ranges, but we do know for a fact that she made nine figures during her four years in office,” the group, known as CREW, said in a statement Monday.

At the most modest end of her reported income, DeVos would have raked in more than $158,000 each day of her 1,422 days in the position. That works out to more than $6,500 per hour.

Thanks for that, Andy. Came in handy, as my sister keeps asking me why these monsters enter public office just to brutalize it. I keep saying, for the money, but she is unfamiliar with the modern money-making schemes, and pooh-poohs me.

A top aide to Donald Trump was secretly re-engaged by a leading political strategy firm after being forced to step down after a social media scandal, the Guardian can reveal. The company, Washington-based Teneo, wanted access to top Republicans in the then president’s inner circle, and to conceal his ongoing work.

Jason Miller – who remains close to Trump, and who today serves as a senior adviser to the former president – also later appears to have misled a Florida court about this employment status, asserting in a sworn statement that he could no longer comply with a court order requiring him to pay child-support payments because of an alleged “major financial setback” and was effectively out of work.

Miller cited his termination as a reason he could not meet court-mandated payments – even though he had secretly agreed to a new contract with Teneo that meant doing the same work for the same fee.

Miller resigned as a managing editor of Teneo, the powerhouse corporate advisory firm, on 21 June 2019, after posting a series of obscenity-laced tweets about Democratic congressman Jerrold Nadler, the chairman of the House judiciary committee.

“I have parted ways with Teneo by mutual consent and look forward to … my next move,” Miller said in a statement he provided to the New York Times and other news outlets.

But Miller’s departure from Teneo was a sham. Previously undisclosed confidential records from inside Teneo show that on the same day Miller signed a formal “separation agreement and general release” from Teneo, he signed a new contract with the firm, whereby Teneo agreed to secretly engage Miller as a consultant, through a hastily formed LLC, at the very same base compensation of nearly $500,000 doing the very same work.

The maneuver adroitly allowed Teneo to let Miller continue working for them, during a time when the largely Democratic firm was eager to develop closer relations with the Trump White House – while also not having to pay the reputational and public relations costs of openly associating with Miller and others in the administration.

What happened to Brett Kavanaugh? He's voting with the Chief Justice to form a centrist majority (with the 3 libs). Of course, when it comes to voting rights they will snap back into the right wing Republican (GQP) fold.

This pisses me off way more than I can express.

Teachers get so beat up and do not make money. This heifer comes in, no idea about education and makes that much money while screwing teachers. GOD I would love to whack a mole with the whole lot of dotards

Before she joined the Trump administration as transportation secretary, Elaine Chao earned millions of dollars over the past decade by serving on the boards of big public companies such as Dole Foods, Protective Life and Wells Fargo, according to corporate filings.

She offered sterling credentials to businesses eager to keep current with the Republican leadership: A former banking executive, she became the first Asian American woman to serve in a Cabinet when President George W. Bush tapped her to serve as labor secretary. She has been a regular at conservative think tanks including the Heritage Foundation and the Hudson Institute. Her husband is Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

But now Chao is encountering a fraught reentry into the private sector.

Headhunters who have sought similarly prominent work for Chao have found little interest, according to two headhunters she’s consulted personally. The headhunters, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the discussions, said top executives wary of backlash from associating with former Trump officials are boiling down Chao’s four-decade Washington résumé to its most recent entry: long-standing ally of Donald Trump, despite her resignation the day after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Fox News’s hiring of Pompeo, already a frequent guest on the network, installs another top Trump administration official and staunch defender of the former president as a fixture on the network, which has also brought on former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany. Fox News announced last week that McEnany would co-host "Outnumbered," which airs weekdays at noon.

Pompeo will offer analysis on Fox News and Fox Business network both during the day and during primetime hours, Fox News Media said in a release. He’ll make his debut as a contributor Friday on Fox & Friends, the network’s signature morning show.
From Secretary of State to talking head on faux noise. :oopsy: In any other world, this would be a real come-down.

A former Pennsylvania police chief known for profane YouTube rants about guns and liberals that went viral has lost a bid to void his conviction for lying when he tried to buy a firearm.

In a ruling issued Tuesday, a state Superior Court panel ruled that ex-Gilberton Chief Mark Kessler’s conviction and his 2-year probation sentence must stand.

President Judge Emeritus Susan Peikes Gantman rejected Kessler’s argument that he deserved a new trial or the complete dismissal of his charges because of supposed misconduct by a prosecutor.

Did we know this? Or is it bs?
A former Pennsylvania police chief who posted online videos of himself ranting obscenely about liberals and the Second Amendment while shooting automatic weapons secretly fed information on people he considered militia members, anti-government extremists and so-called "sovereign citizens" to the FBI and state police, according to documents he showed to The Associated Press.

The extent of former Gilberton Chief Mark Kessler's relationship with state and federal law enforcement, whether they asked for the information, what they did with it, and how they viewed him all remain unclear.

FBI spokesman J.J. Klaver said the agency does not comment on people who claim to be informants. State police also declined to comment
