Good luck, Lani.

I found out yesterday that my SIL is taking the day off and the grandson out of school to drive to Erie in the morning. Yikes! My grandson's school (fourth grade) is allowing it. My granddaughter's is not.

That's the same for me but weather forecasts here are a tease so it probably not.

Yesterday there was no rain for the first time in a week. That didn't last.

I have been following the weather forecast along the path especially NE Ohio. We used to live there and still have a lot of friends. As of now the forecast is mostly cloudy. I could have guessed that. I have never lived in a cloudier place than Canton from October through April.

They have now "upgraded" our forecast to thunderstorms from 12-3 tomorrow. We're supposed to have 90% visible eclipse.....from 12-3

I live in Bay Village, about 20 miles west of Cleveland. The forecast is cloudy in the morning and mostly clear in the afternoon. I believe that totality here is expected to be at about 3:15.

Everywhere I go, there are signs saying "No Parking" and electric road signs programmed to warn against camping in the parks.

I'm lucky. I should be able to see it perfectly from my back deck.

I believe that this is the first total eclipse that I will have experienced.

Do I get extra points for driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse?

 Absolutely. I hope the weather cooperates. I have been in a 90% area once or twice but never totality. I understand it's a unique experience. Alas, I will just have to watch it on TV. Our fiends in Ohio have a chance. The forecast improves towards evening so maybe at 3 PM there will be breaks in the clouds.

A little late IMO, but Time magazine has an eclipse display where you enter your zip code to see the predicted event:

We call it Oregon Sunshine around here. Even our Pride flags are six shades of gray. Jesuits stand out for their flamboyant clothing. Then there's our Rain Festival celebrated annually from Jan 1 to Dec 31. It's also notable we are the only place outside the UK where anti-moss coating is an option at the auto dealership.

 It has been fun this last week with the news stations dragging out that video of tfg staring at the sun.

I'm enjoying CNN's coverage. Boris and Brianna are anchoring from Indianapolis and they've got reporters spread all over the path. Even a multi couple wedding in Arkansas.

Trump posts solar eclipse promo video

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4 ... press.coop
Former President Trump invoked the highly anticipated solar eclipse in a new campaign video posted late Sunday night.

The video posted on Truth Social opens with footage of the sun before cutting to crowds of people wearing protective eclipse glasses and looking up at the sky. The screen reads, “The most important moment in human history is taking place in 2024.”

The video then shows more people appearing to view a solar eclipse before Trump’s shadow appears to cover the sun, creating an eclipse with the former president’s silhouette while people cheer.

The caption then reads, “We will save America and make it great again,” before closing the video with people chanting “USA.”

The following day, Hillary Clinton, Trump’s former opponent, reshared a photo of Trump appearing to look directly at a solar eclipse in 2017 without protective eclipse glasses. NASA has warned people to not look directly at the sun during the eclipse without wearing the proper glasses.

The fun time watching Google Maps begins. If you have the Traffic option turned on, you can see that the roads from, say, Chicago towards Indianapolis are getting pretty busy, as are the highways in New Hampshire. But this will pale in comparison to the highways once the eclipse is over.

That map almost looks like something has swept the clouds away from the path of the eclipse.

It is currently sunny and in the sixties here in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Totality is about 3:15 here.

I am so glad to have the day off to watch the coverage non-stop. I does take a while for the moon to get in place, Mazatlan is still happening.

Edit, back to the big multi couple wedding in Arkansas, there a Beatles band going to play and at the chosen moment they'll be playing Here Comes the Sun.

This is just so amazing to watch.
