I’m heading to Rome and Tuscany in October. Unfortunately I’m not going for the food - I’m allergic to just about everything. I am not sure what camera equipment I'm taking other than my phone, but I'll keep that in mind and collect a ton of food porn, even if I don't post all of it here.

Fortunately, I'll be able to navigate the culinary scene because my partner is 100% Italian ancestry and we'll be joined part of the time by her cousin who is Italian. The likelihood that I find myself in an American fast food restaurant is quite low, and not just because there are few near where we're going.

Leaving again. We will be heading to the airport hotel tomorrow for a 6:17 AM flight Saturday.* This time a Great Lakes cruise on one of the new explorer ships, small ships to get into small places. We'll be starting in Montreal for a few days and then will get on the ship on Monday to start the cruise through St. Lawrence Seaway and into all the Great Lakes, ending in Chicago two weeks later.

I would never have scheduled a trip so soon after returning from another one, but we had to use a voucher and my passport expires next April, so there's not much time left on it. The flights are short, which I like. As it turns out, I won't be quite so freaked out at the airports and on the planes since I've just gotten over Covid.






* If all goes well, we'll be in Montreal by 10:30 AM, but I'm not holding my breath.

Turns out the guy who lives at this villa (My friend’s boss), speaks Italian, and he has been very solicitous of my allergies.

I don't eat burros. They're cute little animals. I used to be too big to ride them. Now I'm too old instead.

I spoke with our friend Dick from Australia last evening. He is member Rajah here. Most of you remember him as a weekly caller on RC Radio. He is doing well. He and Roz just had their first great grandchild, a great grandson. He wished everyone well on TFB. He still keeps in touch with several members. Dick still follows US politics on Twitter and other places.

I remember rajah!!!! That's a tough decision - grandbaby v. Fogbow.
