At the risk of being crass... EvoPsych garbage. Safe to ignore, kinda like physiognomy only even less rooted in reality. It is, unfortunately, a rather popular displihe that brings in paying students since it gives whatever answers proponents want and rationalize it as 'rational!'... but really, it is about as grounded as flat earth and uses the same quality of logical inference.

Yep. Jordan Peterson is probably the highest profile example of how those two communities interact. But yeah, evo psych is the moderate 'polite society' version of redpill philosophy.

Florida GOP chairman under video voyeurism investigation amid rape probe

BY JEFF PATTERSON -
01/03/24 12:00 PM ET

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Embattled Florida Republican Party Chairman Christian Ziegler is under investigation over possible video voyeurism amid claims that he raped a woman, according to court documents.

Ziegler recorded himself having sex with a woman who has accused him of rape, according to the documents.

A search warrant shows that Sarasota Police asked for access to Ziegler’s Instagram account and videos on his phone.

Ziegler allegedly texted the woman he’s accused of raping and told her to check out an Instagram message in which he sent a copy of the video to the woman in “vanish mode.” Content sent this way disappears when a user leaves the chat or turns the function off.

Ziegler and his attorney showed the video of the sexual encounter to Sarasota police detectives to prove the sex was consensual, according to the court documents.

Attorney Bryant Camareno, who is not involved in the case, said the video may be proof of other crimes.

“I think No. 1, it may show that there was consent to have sex,” he said. “No. 2, it may show that she knew that she was being recorded, but No. 3, if he sent it to her with the intent of harassment, then that may be another crime, which is cyberstalking.”

Camareno said even though the video may be used as evidence of the other crimes, it could help Ziegler with the rape charge.

“I think the lawyer did the right thing,” Camareno said. “He may have opened up another Pandora box by giving information, or providing proof that he may have committed another crime, but a third-degree felony of video voyeurism is a lot better than a sexual battery allegation because that’s a first-degree felony. You’re going to prison.”

Florida Republican Party ousts Christian Ziegler as chairman after rape allegation

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politi ... rcna131936
The vote, which came during an emergency meeting in Tallahassee, was largely expected after the Sarasota Police Department’s rape investigation into him became public last month. The party selected Evan Power, its former vice chairman, to serve as the new chairman. Power had the support of most prominent Florida Republicans, including Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Ziegler was not in attendance for the vote.

"Congratulations to our new Chairman, @EvanPower," the party posted on X. "Under his strong leadership, we will Keep Florida RED, deliver Florida’s 30 electoral votes to the GOP presidential candidate, and elect Republicans up and down the ballot. Let’s get to work!"

Four sources in the room said that there were very few people who expressed support for Ziegler remaining as chair, thought it's unclear the exact number because it was a voice vote.

I notice they didn't say they'd support DeSantis or trump, just whomever the nominee is. Yes, that's how it should be but we're talking about the current GOP. DeSantis won't respond but who wants to take bets on the OSG?

On self-checkout machines, they will scan an item then intentionally miss an item after that but put it in their bag. For the machines where the bag counter detects weight, I assume they put both the scanned and the unscanned item in the bag at the same time to make it think they just placed a single item in the bag.

The Target LP dept (loss prevention) must have noticed it on one occasion, and then reviewed the stored videos of her previous purchases. Once a thief, always a thief.

At least some of the machines are smart enough to know the approximate weight of each item in the inventory, meaning that, while there is probably some leeway, if you put too heavy or light an item on the output, it can flag that.

At Costco, they have a deal of two six-packs of Danish pastries for a single price. When you check out, you select "Bakery Item", then select "Danish". If you only put one of the six-packs on the scale, it nags you to place the item on the scale. I assume that, if I placed a 55" plasma tv on the scale after paying for a Danish, it would know that.

I'm not sure how sophisticated the self-checkout systems at Target are.

The self checkout at supermarkets have a bagging area that weighs each item added and cross checks it to the scanned item weights. It requires a staff member to resolve any serious difference.

Oh - and some have cameras
So add in facial recognition etc

I try not to use the self serve as the companies savings in staff didn’t result in lower prices.

I use the self-checkouts a little more at Target; rarely use it at the grocery stores. In either case, there's always a staff member standing in the area to watch what's going on and/or help.

What? You don't get a discount for self checkout and bagging your own items?

I NEVER use self check out.

I don't work there.

Once at Wal-Mart there was no checker so I went to customer service-they told me to use self checkout and I asked for the employee discount. They rang me up!
