And now there seems to be another video with Bridget.

A second video has been recovered by police showing Bridget Ziegler, a cofounder of the conservative Moms for Liberty, engaging in sexual relations with a woman, sources said. It is not known if the woman in the video is the same woman who has alleged she was sexually assaulted by Christian Ziegler. Neither Christian nor Bridget Ziegler have responded to requests for comment from the Trident.

While I share everyone's pleasure in the downfall of the awful Zieglers, I'm concerned about the release of information about the second video.

What connection does it have with the criminal investigation of the alleged rape? And for that matter, has there been a charge?

I guess it's naive to expect that a local Florida police department would observe the same standards that United States Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald followed in the Scooter Libby prosecution, namely remaining silent about the investigations except to the extent they are revealed in indictments and the course of the prosecution.

But the release of this information seems particularly gratuitous.

Cops recover second sex video involving scandal-plagued Moms for Liberty leader: report

Police have reportedly recovered a second sex video involving Bridget Ziegler, a leader of the Moms for Liberty group that is dedicated to banning books that purportedly contain sexually explicit content from schools.

The Florida Trident reports that police recovered the video while investigating rape accusations against her husband, Christian Ziegler, who earlier this month was suspended from his role as Florida Republican Party chairman.

Sources tell the Florida Trident that the new video involves the Moms for Liberty leader "engaging in sexual relations with a woman," although it's not known at this point whether it's with the same woman who accused her husband of raping her.

"In response to a specific public record request for that video, the Sarasota Police Department on Thursday asserted the video was exempt from disclosure due to the ongoing criminal investigation," writes the Trident. "The video, according to sources, was obtained by police after a search warrant was executed on Christian Ziegler’s cell phone and Google account in November to recover evidence in connection with the alleged rape."

I think it is less about distraction, and more about responding to what they see as people acting above their station. Transgressions are a privilege and a sign of status, the higher up the chain you are the more 'taboo' you are afforded.

It wouldn't be a big surprise if Bridget Ziegler's anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric was due to her own internalized fear of her own same-sex attraction and feelings.
