There’s more at the link, but I feel like I’ve hit the highlight…

Tommy Davis, 83.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/to ... uxbndlbing

Fantastic player for the Dodgers in the early '60s until he broke his leg sliding into second base in May '65. He won two consecutive NL batting titles in '62 and '63, with 153 ribbies in '62. Maury Wills (104 SB) aced him out for MVP.

After he healed from his broken leg, the Dodgers traded him away and he finished his big league career with a suitcase, playing for (I think) ten different teams.

He was a class act all the way.

Bobby Rydell, a Philadelphia-born singer who became a teenage idol in the late 1950s and, with his pleasant voice, stage presence and nice-guy demeanor, maintained a loyal following on tours even after both he and his original fans were well past retirement age, died on Tuesday in Abington, Pa. He was 79.

The cause was complications of pneumonia, said Maria Novey, a spokeswoman.

Eric Boehlert, whose media criticism has appeared in “Salon,” “Daily Kos,” and “Media Matters for America,” has died. He was 57.

Boehlert lost his life Monday night after he was struck by a train while riding his bicycle in Montclair, New Jersey, his wife confirmed to The Sun.

Salon confirmed the news of Boehlert’s death Wednesday on Twitter.

“We are devastated by the loss of esteemed journalist and former @Salon senior writer, Eric Boehlert,” a tweet from the outlet said. “Our condolences to Eric’s family and friends during this difficult time. His passing is a huge loss to media criticism and progressive journalism.”
Horrible death.

Very sad. He’s been a voice in my media universe for nearly 15 years and I just subscribed to Pressrun yesterday.

Not indulging in conspiracies, truly wondering-how does an experienced cyclist get hit by a train?

Earbuds would be my guess.

I used to do a lot of surveying of railroad tracks and trains certainly can sneak up on you.

This one really hurts because Chris was a personal friend. My brother was in The Saints for a while. He's playing bass in the video below.

Chris Bailey, lead singer of Australian band the Saints, dies

I love this song. I guess he's in Paradise now, if you believe in that sort of thing.

I loved the Saints. All Fools Day was one of my favorite CDs from the 1980s. It was not generally available in the US, and had to be purchased as an import. My first copy of the CD was stolen from my car on a day trip to Vancouver, BC about 20 years ago, and I had a devil of a time replacing it. To me, they will always be a Big Hit on the Underground.

This is Leo, the world's biggest lap dog and a real sweetheart. His family are good friends of ours and the poor boy had to be put down yesterday due to neuropathy in his back legs. RIP big guy :crying:
