The wine contained Coca extract, i.e. Cocaine.

Terrible hat.
He's the Pope. It's not a great job. You gotta put up with a lot of really annoying people. You gotta wear them heavy robes all the time. You gotta remember all the stupid Latin stuff. It's a pain in the ass. The only thing that makes it all worth while is, you get to wear the coolest hats EVAR. So this is one of the horrible side effects of doing too much cocaine - what's he wearing on his head, a doily?

The hat in the ad is part of the Pope's daily wear. It is a zucchetto. The mitre is for special occasions and times of the year.

Yeah, I was having a hard time buying that one, it is way over the top, especially since it clearly was made to look like something from at least 50 years ago.pipistrelle wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 7:28 pm Finally, apparently it’s not a real ad.

You're right Volkonski, the Aunt Jemima story is wild, descendants sued Quaker Oats in 2014, don't know if they settled or what.

I remember their terrible jingle -- this is for real! "Nothing could be finer than the taste of Aunt Jemima in the morning..."
1986!

Here's how the brand was presented:
I've represented black celebrities almost my whole career, this always comes up, whether it should be totally banned or if it should be available so younger people know the history of this and why people get upset.

On August 5, 2014, descendants of Anna Short Harrington filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against plaintiffs Quaker Oats and PepsiCo for $2 billion US. The suit, which also named as defendants Pinnacle Foods and its former suitor Hillshire Brands, accused the companies of failing to pay Harrington and her heirs an "equitable fair share of royalties" from the pancake mix and syrup brand that uses her likeness and recipes. The lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice and without leave to amend on February 18, 2015.
