Thurs 5pm: Nobody Is Above the Law—Mueller Protection Rapid Response

Nobody Is Above the Law—Mueller Protection Rapid Response
https://www.trumpisnotabovethelaw.org/e ... #event-map
BREAKING: PROTESTS CALLED FOR THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 5 PM LOCAL TIME
Donald Trump has installed a crony to oversee the special counsel's Trump-Russia investigation, crossing a red line set to protect the investigation. By replacing Rod Rosenstein with just-named Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker as special counsel Robert Mueller's boss on the investigation, Trump has undercut the independence of the investigation. Whitaker has publicly outlined strategies to stifle the investigation and cannot be allowed to remain in charge of it. The Nobody Is Above the Law network demands that Whitaker immediately commit not to assume supervision of the investigation. Our hundreds of response events are being launched to demonstrate the public demand for action to correct this injustice. We will update this page as the situation develops.

Donald Trump just crossed a red line, violating the independence of the investigation pursuing criminal charges in the Trump-Russia scandal and cover-up.

Trump putting himself above the law is a threat to our democracy, and we’ve got to get Congress to stop him.

We're mobilizing immediately to demand accountability, because Trump is not above the law.

Please make note of the date, time, and description below to confirm that the host is able to organize the event on such short notice! In general, rallies are suggested to begin @ 5 PM local time. But individual local events may vary—please confirm details on your event page.
The map takes a minute or so to populate because there are almost 1000 protests.

Wait, Whitaker has done nothing yet to impede Mueller.

I'm supposed to protest because Sessions was fired? I actually don't give a crap about Sessions. :nope:

And not accurate when it does. The 2 listed here locally are scheduled for Wed, Nov 20 (that's a Tues) and Tues, Dec 31 (that's a Monday.)

While I question it having any impact, I believe the idea of the protest is to get Whitaker to preemptively agree to not take control of the investigation kinda like how Sessions recused himself.

Or Trump’s propaganda squad is trying to cement their whole “Democrats are angry mobs” message.

Remember that whole rallies here for the Orange Usurper were totally arranged by Putin’s Playahs.

I think launching the protests was premature and a mistake.

I think a deliberate trap would have required more plotting - and competence - than is plausible from the Maladministration. I stand by what I've been saying for some time now - these are not very bright guys, and they are in over their heads. (That doesn't mean they can't do a hell of a lot of damage while flailing about, though.)

However, people are very good at creating and falling into their own traps.

Russians are that good, even if Trumpanzees aren’t. I don’t think they’ve given up.

Actually DFA has been planning since Mueller became involved, assembling a rapid response team in anticipation of his removal.

Nobody loves a good protest more than me, but I think the trigger should be Mueller's firing, not that it won't happen by the time I click "Submit."

Yeah, I've been receiving regular notifications from them on Twitter the whole time. But I still think the launch was premature, given the lack of actual removal.

I'm fine with it.

There have been multiple triggers suggested, and Sessions firing has always been one of them. Protest the shit out of it.

Could be, but sometimes we need to gather together. Feel hope. Support each other.

I get that, and I don't disagree.

I'm just concerned that turnout is going to be disappointingly low, resulting in both discouragement for the participants and further encouraging Trump to take the next step.

:yeah:

He'd just turn it into more fuel for his "mobs of angry democrats" spiel.
