LOL. Cohen is seeking a TRO against Avenatti. I'll post in the other applicable thread, too. I haven't read it yet.

As this Court has probably already surmised, Ms. Avenatti’s actions are mainly driven by his seemingly unquenchable thirst for publicity.
Your girl forgot to proofread this one Stern.

So, no need for a meet and confer when one arbitrarily determines that no notice is necessary? The ex parte claim would appear to be contradicted by the long history of the "publicity tour." Why now? Why a sudden need for no notice?

Edit: I also see no mention of the necessary criteria for a TRO.

Cohen is about to be indicted. So that's the reason. It's not expressed, however, and neither are the criteria for emergency relief, as you point out.

Scaramucci was the intelligent and measured one in that "conversation." (He's actually very smart when he wants to be.) As usual, Avenatti sounded like a dope with a very limited vocabularly, using lots of intensifiers repeatedly, and saying very little. But piling the shit on Cohen. He needs a new shtick.

He's an immigration lawyer now:

Unable to identify any of the various groups which are providing legal aid to migrants, Avenatti expects them to ring him up on Twitter, I suppose.

He's degenerating into a bizarro world Orly Taitz with her "send me clients" thing.

Thanks pal.

More like "send me plaintiffs." Orly Taitz's problem was that she represented a cause (and a dumb one, too), not actual clients. Avenatti is seemingly degenerating into the same thing, with an equal amount of hubris. As if he is the only one who can stop these immigration policies.

I guess Avenatti has never heard of the ACLU or the hundreds of lawyers and organizations fighting the good fight. https://www.justice.gov/eoir/list-pro-b ... -providers

Some of us older lawyers actually cut our teeth working for these public service organizations. Without publicity. That is anathema to Avenatti.

And let's not forget the whole competent and practice real law thing. He doesn't seem to have figured that part out any more than la Taitz has.

Avenatti seems to be ready to invest his new found fame in a noble cause. When you lack that fame, you must go other roads.

Avenatti, in addition to representing the woman who is suing President Donald Trump and his lawyer Michael Cohen, is now also representing about 50 immigrant women and children who were separated from each other after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
Avenatti said Tuesday that he is representing over 50 Guatemalan and Honduran mothers in detention whose children were taken from them.

His arrival on the border adds an even more political layer to an already emotionally-charged and divisive issue. Avenatti said he wanted to help take on as many cases as he could and, additionally, hoped to bring as much attention as possible to the child separations that are occurring.

“Today was the most difficult day of my career, likely of my life,” he said. “To listen to 10 mothers weep uncontrollably about being separated from their children. Never before did I think I’d stand on U.S. soil and have these conversations with mothers.”

Avenatti spent about five hours meeting with clients in detention centers in Laredo, before driving to McAllen. They have no idea the whereabouts of their children, ranging in age from 5 to 16, he said. Avenatti was able to locate one child, who Border Patrol picked up near Laredo, in Phoenix.

Trump has used small children as political hostages to try to get his way with Congress on the wall and immigration law. Avenatti has used small children as props in a desperate attempt to get more personal publicity. Who's worse?

And what the fuck is his expertise in high stakes immigration law, especially when you have the ACLU who actually knows a few things about this. I sense that Avenatti is just going to free ride on the back of the ACLU and others.

So, yeah, really.
