CNN: House votes to refer Mark Meadows to Justice Department for contempt of Congress:

The Democratic-controlled House voted Tuesday night to recommend that the Department of Justice pursue criminal charges against former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows for failing to appear for a deposition with the select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.

The voted was 222-208. Two Republicans who sit on the January 6 select committee, Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, voted with Democrats.

I played fast-pitch softball for 2 years with John Schmitz, MK’s brother and a pretty decent guy, when he was a grad student at CalTech. Before his sister’s troubles became fodder for every ghoul in the media universe. I’d just moved back to California. My parents and their neighbors were up on local politics and I learned all about the Schmitz family. John wasn’t what I expected.

He espoused none of the rhetoric or even interest in politics of Dad or Joe. Not surprised to see Joe’s name in such (gag) august company. I wonder how John is?

Brad Parscale Says Jan. 6 Panel Subpoenaed His Phone Records


The Jan. 6 Committee now appears to be looking into former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, with Parscale telling The Daily Beast late Wednesday night the committee investigating the attack on the Capitol had subpoenaed his phone records from November through January.

Parscale said he had received a notice from his phone carrier earlier in the day and “just agreed.”

“I had nothing to do with Jan. 6,” said Parscale, who has not played an active role in the campaign since a month before the election. The Guardian reported in September that the committee was considering a subpoena for Parscale’s communications.

Despite his distance from the campaign after the election, Parscale admitted in a Fox News interview last December that he had long known about a Trump campaign plan to stoke unfounded fears about “rampant voter fraud” in the 2020 election. In fact, Parscale said, he was a founding architect of the scheme, which he claimed was a well-funded public relations and legal operation with the Republican National Committee, involving “lawyers everywhere.”

“In April of 2019, I sat down with my team, and I said, let’s come up with the biggest Election Day operation ever, because voter fraud is going to be rampant,” he said in the interview, adding that “if it’s not going to be rampant, everyone’s going to think it’s rampant. Or they’re going to game it.”

Trump’s former data guru told Fox that the proposal was the “largest budget ever of Election Day operations, in partnership with the RNC.” They would “have lawyers everywhere, file suits beforehand, protect beforehand,” Parscale said. He continued that the plan “fell apart” between last July, when he left, and Election Day. “And that’s a question. I don’t know exactly what the answer is. But, from everything I’m hearing, it did not occur,” Parscale claimed.

There is, of course, ample evidence that a stunningly similar plan did occur. Trump and his surrogates sowed baseless fears of election fraud among his supporters, starting months before the election, and a number of Republican lawyers filed state-level lawsuits ahead of Nov. 3, challenging new voting regulations to accommodate COVID-19.

The Chris Hayes interview was a disaster. Stockman was talking over Hayes and lots of whataboutism. Lawrence looked like a brunette Tammy Faye Baker. She claimed she has known Trump for ten years and said a lot of incomprehensible shit. Hayes was foolish for having them on.

Lin is Singing.... Waldron said he was on the phone with Representative Louie Gohmert, a Republican from Texas. Waldron, who ran a cyber security company after leaving the military, said he had been researching vote hacking since August; Biden’s victory accelerated his efforts. Waldron said he told Gohmert he had tracked internet traffic routed through a server in Frankfurt, Germany. Votes could be rerouted, too, he told Gohmert. Election officials say this assertion is false, and no evidence for it exists.

Gohmert immediately called Trump, Waldron said. A spokesman for Gohmert declined to comment.

Two days later, Waldron said, he was on a plane to Washington. “It started getting sporty about then,” he said, with his theories gaining traction.

First he met with Sidney Powell, the lawyer for his old commander, Flynn. Waldron said he met Powell in a hotel conference room that functioned as her headquarters, briefing her in the early morning hours. A lawyer who worked with Powell, Howard Kleinhendler, confirms Waldron was part of the group. Powell declined to comment.

Then Waldron huddled with Giuliani. “We were supposed to have a 10 minute briefing but it went 45 minutes,” Waldron said. When Giuliani said he wanted to discuss voter fraud, Waldron said he pressed upon the former mayor that the fraud was on a larger, and global, scale. “We kept going over it and going over it. He finally came aboard,” he said.

Giuliani did not respond to interview requests. He confirmed in a legal deposition that Waldron shared fraud allegations with him.

“Colonel in the military, great war record,” Giuliani testified. “I’ve had substantial dealings with him and he’s very, very thorough and very experienced in this kind of work.”

By the second week of November, Waldron said he began working closely with Flynn.

After a stellar military career, Flynn was appointed chief of the Defense Intelligence Agency by President Barack Obama, but was fired in 2014, in part because the two clashed over the general’s hardline views on countering Islamic extremism. Flynn became a key 2016 Trump campaign advisor and was installed by the new president as national security advisor. He resigned weeks later after it was disclosed that he had held secret talks with Russia’s ambassador about U.S. sanctions before Trump took office. Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about those talks. Trump would eventually pardon him.

In the days after Biden won the 2020 election, Flynn had set up camp at the sprawling South Carolina estate of lawyer L. Lin Wood, another supporter of Trump’s effort to overturn the election.

Wood told Reuters that Flynn and Powell arrived shortly after the election. So did Keshel, then working as a technology salesman. Flynn and Keshel stayed through Thanksgiving, where Flynn carved the turkey.

The group, operating from a sitting room on Wood’s estate, created something of a clearinghouse for election fraud claims. “They all appeared to be working together,” Wood said.

He cited his military credentials. “I’m a retired Army colonel, 30 years,” he said. Then he claimed all the voting machine technology in the United States could be hacked.

The sham January 6 Committee on Thursday subpoenaed retired Colonel Phil Waldron for records and testimony. Last November Rudy Giuliani’s first witness at the Arizona election hearing was information warfare officer Retired Army Colonel Phil Waldron. The Marxists on the J-6 panel are targeting Waldron because he worked with Trump’s lawyers and testified before state lawmakers on the rampant Democrat 2020 election fraud.

“According to public reporting, you claim to have visited the White House on multiple occasions after the election, spoken to Mark Meadows “maybe 8 to 10 times” and briefed several members of Congress on election fraud theories,” Jan 6 Chairman Bennie Thompson wrote in a letter to Waldron. “You have also publicly acknowledged contributing to the creation of a PowerPoint presentation that was given to, or described for, Republican members of Congress on the eve of January 6th.”

Recall, Col Waldron spoke at election hearings in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Michigan last December. Waldron claimed truckloads of ballots for Joe Biden were inserted into the 2020 election. Waldron told the Arizona election committee that they have witnesses who delivered truckloads of ballots for Joe Biden from New York to Pennsylvania. Waldron said they likely did the same thing in Wisconsin. Colonel Waldron also spoke about the voting machines used in US elections. The Dominion systems were connected to the Internet as well, despite Dominion’s claims to the contrary. The records within the system can be manipulated by outside parties and insiders as well.

Bennie Thompson called Waldron’s PowerPoint presentation an “alarming blueprint for overturning a nationwide election.” “Mr. Waldron reportedly played a role in promoting claims of election fraud and circulating potential strategies for challenging results of the 2020 election. He was also apparently in communication with officials in the Trump White House and in Congress discussing his theories in the weeks leading up to the January 6th attack. The document he reportedly provided to Administration officials and Members of Congress is an alarming blueprint for overturning a nationwide election. The Select Committee needs to hear from him about all these activities. We expect him to comply with the law and provide records and testimony as the Select Committee continues its work to get answers for the American people about January 6th, make legislative recommendations to strengthen our democracy, and help ensure nothing like that day ever happens again,” Jan 6 Chairman Bennie Thompson said.
