Earlier, Foggy said I could identify birds by looking at them. I guess he might be right. I looked out the window yesterday and saw a hawk flying nearby. More specifically, it was a Black Hawk (which was not really black but a dark green). It had some red and white birthmark on it.

It looked this this (not the same bird but the same type):

We had some luck doing that back in the later 1940s. I don't know how they did it, but I doubt it involved using electrical devices.

Bail hearing today for Sean Combs. Inner City News is live tweeting. The defense has asked for $50 million bail; US wants him locked up. So far, to me, the judge doesn't sound convinced.

Well, this was fast-moving. Judge says keep him detained. Diddy back to the pokey. The defense had tried to ge home confinement, offering ankle monitor, at least 3 security persons 24/7, no internet, no cell phone. Well, in jail he might actually get a cell, based on the movies I watch. LOL

It was weird reading about the US Atty talking about "freak offs." Never heard of that, but I think I get it based on context clues.

Starting to get a bit flustered. I've applied for over 20 jobs in the last month. I have only heard back from one, and that is an internal opening with my former employer.

I know it takes time, I'm just going stir crazy with no work.

Mushrooms from outer space, three cute couples, obviously in love, sitting calmly in front of my ophthalmologist's office on this glorious September morn. This is why I schedule appointments for 8 am.

A miscarriage can be so hard, especially when it took so long to get pregnant.

In last Saturday's college football game between Boston College and Michigan State ...

No, this isn't a post about football. Keep reading, por favor. ;)

Anyway, the Boston College players all wore jerseys with their usual numbers, but not their names. On the back of every jersey was the same two words: "FOR WELLES".

So I had to know what that was about.

Welles Crowther was a securities dealer who worked on the 104th floor of the World Trade Center. He became known as "the man in the red bandana" who saved at least 18 people, but died alongside firefighters and first responders. One of the heroes. One of many, but y'know ...

And Welles was a graduate of Boston College, though he wasn't a football player. His dad was a firefighter. He was a junior firefighter. His red bandana was his trademark since he was 6 years old. He wore it to keep out the smoke, on 9/11. Getting a little dusty in here.

So now Boston College has a game every year in his honor, but the lesson is always about selflessness in the service of others. They have a new coach this year, and he said it's one of the best parts of being there, because of the opportunity to be part of a community that teaches selflessness.
