Lot's of songs still do fade outs, but yeah, they're annoying. I used to do college radio and hated having to try to pick the right place in a fade out to start the next song. Hard endings were much nicer because I knew exactly when to hit the button

Envy of None, Alex Lifeson's new group, has released a 2nd single called "Look Inside". I don't think I like this one quite as much as I do "Liar" (their first single that I posted a few weeks back), but it's cool in its own way especially once it gets just past where the vocals initially kick in. Until then it's a bit off-kilter. It DEFINATELY doesn't sound ANYTHING like Rush, though!

So after my 6th grade year in Catholic school my parents sent me to yet another summer enrichment program [i.e. a summer school, but with stuff you might actually want to learn, my first electronics class was one of these, I was taking them since after the 4th grade, I digress...]. Some of my experience of Tchaikovksy is of him being more upbeat. Let me introduce you to the final movement of his 2nd Symphony in c minor (though the last movement is in C Major). The opening is slow and majestic, but then things really pick up.

I played this in high school (violin), and when I listened while following the score, I wondered, how the hell I played this in high school.


To give a bit of an idea here is a small segment of the Violin I part. Those extra lines mean you pay that note multiple times. So for a quarter note with 2 cross lines, you play it 4 times, i.e. sixteenth note. The eight-note with one, you play twice, i.e. repeated sixteenth notes. This is an ink-saving device and also easier to read.

Oh, and those sixteenth notes go by very, very quickly.

This updated version of America the Beautiful was released in July 2020. It has essentially become my "daily prayer" since I first heard it.
