The Texas Supreme Court just temporarily blocked an historic lower court ruling that allowed a Texas woman to get an emergency abortion.

Kate Cox is currently carrying a pregnancy with virtually no chance the baby will survive to birth or long afterward.

Ummm…. Is it normal for a court order to not have a Judge or Justice associated with it?

Asking cuz the Texas Supreme Court’s order only has clerks.

I presume it is being issued by a clerk on behalf of the court.

Or, perhaps, there is a court rule delegating clerks the authority to make these kinds of minor decisions. The order actually only grants an administrative stay, i.e., a stay pending stay.

Having said that, the better practice would be to indicate the authority, e.g., "By the court," or a citation to the relevant rule.

I would not put it past that worthless prick to do so.
I'm guessing if he did, he would be asserting that her abortion was illegal in TX and the mere fact that she had one means she broke the law in TX. Or sumpin'.

Can he or any other god fearing human sue her under that draconian texas civil law for damages? Take her other kids due to her abuse of the fetus? There are a multitude of ways to punish her ...and every other woman in Texas to keep them in line. I assume the lawyer will be sued also, maybe take her kids, too.
My guess is the whole family is out of the state and pretty much in hiding.

Hopefully they find a better situation in a less christofascist state and get the time and privacy they deserve so they can heal.

It's obscene that this occurred in the first place and even more obscene that the national reaction is so muted.

Yesterday while listening to NPR there was an interview with a woman from Albuquerque who is involved with reproductive rights.

Since the draconian moves of Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona, fully 75% of the women seeking abortions in New Mexico are from out of state.

When I was in High School in El Paso, pre-Roe, that was standard. My sweetie made the trip, and funny enough, her mother did too a few months later.

These laws reflect the policy choice that the Legislature has made, and the courts must respect that choice.

I am now of the opinion they are an actual "Clear And Present Danger" to the United States and need to be designated as enemies of the state and dealt with means appropriate to that designation.

We need to see a mass exodus of reproductive age women from Texas. Also, why would any young woman apply to a college there? See how you like it Texas men when there are no longer any young women left to oppress.

In other horrific news, a woman in Trumbull County Ohio is being prosecuted because she miscarried in her toilet, and flushed. The authorities actually broke down her bathroom and removed her fixture to get evidence. Trumbull County (Warren), just north of Mahoning/Youngstwon, voted for Trump but also voted for the abortion amendment by a comfortable margin.
