The acronym from the name is not meant to edify, build up, or impart grace/learning. It is intended to be seen as bullying their adversaries. It is a statement of their bitterness, wrath, and anger.

I would expect one might state, with some truth behind it, that this passage, along with much of Paul's writing, was intended to specific Christian communities and their tendency toward in-fighting. They could say this but watching their own infighting, it appears they fail to see the direct correlation about how to treat others in their own community. As with many of their elk, they see being "Christian" as nothing more than a label and scripture as something to prooftext to justify their own wants and desires. They do not "read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest" the Bible to understand their relationship with their family, community, God and Christ.

It's all about relationships with a community (hence the whole incarnation thing where God joins that community directly) and how it relates to our commitment and caring in a community. The right-wing has issues with community. Me and mine is their only concern.

I used the Revised Standard Version (RSV) in the quotes because that is what he used on his because I cannot seem to compare texts worth a darn today.

Ya, that's why I went through a phase of posting the whole paragraph of the Bible that people were lifting verses from. The Bible was not written with verses in mine, It was written as a long script and meant to be taken as a whole.

Living your live by half sentences of the bible is kinda missing the point, as much as lifting out horrible sentences of the bible and dismissing the whole thing because of that is. Its pretty much like just saying Lucky Charmes is really sweet becasue of the sweet chunks and ignoring the bland or awful tasting crap in between.
