sugar magnolia wrote: Mon Aug 29, 2022 6:53 am This is verging on offensive. Because you don't understand or participate in something isn't a reason to throw shade at someone who does. A challenge coin doesn't feel so much like a high school clique as it does the ubiquitous "do you know so-and-so" when you meet someone new. It's a social connection between people with a common interest, not a means to "prove" anything to anyone or to intentionally shut someone out.
So how was I supposed to feel for being left out of the "club" because my hearing (Measles, 5 yo) was not up to par? I wasn't good enough for them.
My oldest is HoH and has managed to have a full, interesting life without taking her personal issues out on others who did not have the same struggle. She knows they have struggles of their own. I'm not sure how making fun of others cures your woes from high school.

There is no resolution. I don't know your history nor you mine. But I will tell you high school school sucks for most of us. I am not making fun of anybody, but challenge coins sound juvenile like collecting Pokemon.

On the other hand, hanging onto resentment from 4 or more decades ago sounds pretty juvenile to me.
Don't like challenge coins? Don't get any. Simple enough. There are at least 3 adults on this board who do have them so maybe it's not so juvenile as you think.

Good morning. Someone please tell me this is an art-imitates-life kind of moment, and that you two are mocking 1776RM. :)

I was never military, but I do have a few challenge coins accumulated while in the San Antonio area doing sales for a home improvement company. There are many military/retired military there and I developed some close relationships with my clients. One that gets a lot of stories told when I pull it out is a Secret Service one— at the time the Secret Service had just changed their medical resource to turn to in case of emergency to San Antonio and the guy who gave it to me headed the group of medical SS. I can’t recall precisely without my coffee, but he was in a medical paratrooper division and the general consensus was, “Holy shit, those guys are bad asses”

Anyhoo… they’re a great means of breaking the ice and hearing stories one would not normally hear.

1776RM is a group of pointless and mundane white folks wandering the eastern seaboard like Moses of old searching for the promised land. Someone should tell them they are in the high rent district and head out towards Wyoming where there is plenty of space for their lawn chairs, and zero mockery from counter protesters. Zero a lot of things including the temperature in winter.

Speaking of pointless and mundane, I remember the time when I bought some popcorn ... stop me if you've heard this ... at a store across town ... I'd never been there before, but it was my first time, and I didn't know where to find anything in there ... don't you hate that? I love stores where you just know where everything is. Don't you. You don't have to look a million places. It's just right where it is supposed to be. Anyway, I found the popcorn, and then had to find the Fritos on a completely different aisle. Then I went looking for the bean dip. OMG! They had the most amazing bean dip I have ever tasted IN MY LIFE. Everyone loved it, and then someone threw out the can. Like, who does that - clean up after a party? So I have no idea where to find this stuff again. I went looking, and tried bunches of different brands. It's become my Holy Grail, you know.

(snippity snip snip)

So, that's me. How you been?

Okay, I didn't mean to make anyone mad. Their is a circle of people who think a big collection of challenge coins is some status symbol or even worse in my eyes a sign of some kind of valor or honor.

Maybe. I don't. To me they're kind of cool trinkets but the whole point was basically a drinking game. "every time Trump says a word that isn't a word, drink. Every time a Republican says something stupid, drink, every time someone shows up in the bar and doesn't have his coin, drink. I was not much more than college age and it was and still seems to me like Frat Boy games for a frat with guns.

I just caught up on this. Unbelievable the amount of "stuff" that can be made of something that is really very simple.

I too have challenge coins. Not that it matters that much. But all this seems to me to be making a mountain of a mole hill.

Oh, 1776 is going into double-secret lock down -- You will have to PAY to be a member if you want access to the streams.

It took them months to figure out that livestreaming allowed trolls to report their criminal acts as they occurred. Livestreams have resulted in endless police calls (usually online 1776 supporters), and a lot of calls to CPS, the local health dept, the landlord, local businesses, etc. It's allowed trolls to know where certain people are at certain times. Livestreams also allowed trolls to pull amazing pranks on them.

Membership is an epic mistake. How will like minded PATRIOTS decide if they want to drive to PA? People are worn out with sending donations for nothing. Most donate because of what they hear Santa say on livestream.

Imo, 1776 doesn't want the world to see how many people are leaving as the group departs BH. A vehicle count will be interesting.

Going to PA is the final nail in the coffin for 1776. PA in no way matches the group's mission statement. All they plan to do in PA is help a RWNJ get elected. According to someone in PA, this RWNJ won't want their help.

Some longterm members have said they're staying near DC for now.

Storm Trooper 1779: staying near DC until Oct. He's going to sleep in his car.

Screaming Steve: is officially homeless and is going to sleep in his car in DC. His wife left him and he no longer has a place to live.

Freedom Express (David Valentine): is staying near DC for now.

Josh Epstein (Flopper): recently went to KY to live with his grandmother.

Glorybee: just announced that she has left 1776. She was horrified by the group's attack on Ant. I'm not sure how long she's going to stay near DC.

Crazy Alice: she's mostly behind the scenes. She used to be security.

Ma and Pa: we haven't seen them for at least a week. I have no idea if they'll meet up with 1776 in PA.

I'm other news, Curly V lost her housing. She's been with the group since TPC days. It's funny. Banks and landlords expect your mortgage/rent paid every month.

The following are confirmed to have lost housing because of 1776: Curly V, Chrystal and her 3 children, Golden Chariot, and Screaming Steve.

These idiots don't realize that they've destroyed their credit ratings for years.

Seriously. That's the first thing I thought, how are they possibly going to expand their membership by erecting a paywall? You have to expand the membership to the point where you can support a paywall, and I don't think they are anywhere near that.

Maybe it's about quality, not quantity. :rotflmao:

Apparently, Santa is wanting $100/month for membership to view the streams. I think I will just stick with my Netflix subscription.

I'm tired of "Boomers" being the catchall ageist slur for all things stupid, evil, or misguided. And a lot of these people are not Boomers.

Oh, and in my church smoking was discouraged as bad for the body. Holy Santa might want to think about that.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17

16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

To be fair, that commenter put a qualifier on that -- "RACIST boomers" --doesn't mean all boomers are racist.

Aside: on defiling the body, when I get asked why I have no tats, I just tell them I'm Jewish. 8-)

"Boomers" are currently between 57 and 75. I'm guessing these loons only look that old. If they were really that old, they'd be dead.

I find it interesting that in my mind at least, smoking has gone from a sign of a certain sophistication and class to something very much one of the identifying traits of white trash.

Not everyone who smokes, and not all white trash, but c'mon, a fag dropping at just the right angle from your lip has gone from Bogart , Carry Grant or Katherine Hepburn lighting up in Bringing up Baby to Bubba and "Two Tooth "Cletus taking the trash out to the dumpster behind Burger King in the never seen sequel to Trailer Park Boyz.

Further, if anything is even worse, it's the guy who constantly vapes at completely inappropriate times. How long has it been since it was anything near socially acceptable to smoke on camera or indeed around a group of people that isn't the white trash club gathered around outside the bar watching Tucker through the glass while they suck one down between rounds of Pabst Blue Ribbon.

I think Riddell is 57ish. There are a lot of 40 and 30 somethings in his crowd, the elderly "Ma and Pa," and of course children, especially those of the chronically impaired Chrystal (sp). There's no one age group doing the sitting around. (Funnily, the 80 something "Ma and Pa" are often standing on livestreams.)

I'm wondering why Riddell switched from vaping to smoking. Stress levels up?

Ma and Pa are doing stuff for Santa all the time catering to him -- his personal maid and butler. Food, coffee, etc.
