Just a short comment: I was and still am surprised that no parts of the Capitol went up in flames on J6.

According to the video WaPo put together (posted somewhere around here), the mob was mostly hanging out, undecided on whether to do anything, until the Proud Boys, who had organized themselves, split up and riled them up section by section. I wonder what would have happened if it'd been just an unorganized mob with no leaders and no one to rile them up.

In all honesty, with all the talk and hype, I am kinda confused why more did not happen. They must have been riding high on their success, and they knew where congress had been moved to. Why did they just sorta peter out? If this had been a bad movie or book I would read it as they were waiting for a signal that never came or some other trigger that didn't happen.

Another Capitol riot defendant is putting his faith in the hands of a judge, instead of a DC jury, at trial later this year

Stewart Parks of Tennessee, who's accused of grabbing police metal detector wand while amid the mob.... has opted for bench trial before Judge Amit Mehta

A few days late on this one, but the buried lede in FBI affidavit against Jan. 6 defendant Luke Michael Lints is that he (allegedly) ABANDONED HIS HOSPITALIZED MOTHER so he could riot at the Capitol.

In which Trump(y Bear) storms the U.S. Capitol.

After Trump's Jan. 6 video telling Capitol rioters they were "very special" was played on a bullhorn, some of the people who bought his election lies launched new conspiracies.

"THAT LOOKS PRE-RECORDED!" yells the woman wearing the second most ridiculous outfit in this video.

Andrew Griswold, the Jan. 6 defendant who bragged that rioters "will fucking do it again" after he stormed the U.S. Capitol, seeks leniency in part because the felony charge he pleaded guilty to means he'll no longer receive taxpayer dollars to install floors on military bases.

But doesn't the poor :crying: darling, suffering the consequences of his own behaviour deserve the same tolerance and consideration that he would give to a destitute unemployed Latino or an innocent Black victim of police misconduct?

Oh wait … yeah, fuck him.

Sentencing begins shortly in Jan 6 case of Ben Torre of Georgia. Prosecutors to seek 14-days jail.

Torre is accused of entering private hideaway office of a Democratic Senator.

And feds say he told others: "what happened (on Jan 6) was not what you see on the news"
Underway now. MacFarlane is live tweeting.

DOJ wants three months incarceration for David Antonio Ticas, a former U.S. Marine Corps staff sergeant who brought his 16-year-old daughter to storm the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
A bit more at the thread. Very touristy, bringing one's teenage daughter to the insurrection

I know that everyone here knows this, but Medicare is probably the most socialist thing that the federal government has ever done.

Too bad these idiots don't realize that.

Well heck, bend her over, line up the insurrectionists and viola, she can spend the next 9 months being the property of her rapists, thanks to the pubs.
