What is Kilmeade going to say when they show up on eBay?

You know his thought process is that after a couple of years, no one will notice him selling off his 'love letters'.

I guess presidents can buy those from the government if they want to keep them. How much do you want to bet that Trump has a boatload of presidential gifts that he just took?
As I recall, the Clintons took a bunch of stuff they ultimately had to return. FWIW.
It's definitely worth pointing out, for context.

On one of the shows yesterday, they had an ex National Archives dude on saying that they regularly have to chase down stuff that is improperly taken when an administration leaves the White House. He spoke of confusion over gifts and household/work items. Nothing anywhere near what happened with TFG.

I'm teased by the memory of Paper Towel Gate. Keep thinking there should be some clever connection involving Paper Products.

Maybe Bounty Gate. Does Bounty make tp?

How many times have you seen signs in women’s bathrooms warning not to flush Kotex? Some smart person could use that Trump would hate being compared to a woman! But #Shiittergate is good too!

You have to wonder if "sources" were telling reporters this stuff so that they would be reporting it...

Interesting bit of video from Dec 2019 in this context, especially since we know that "many people" means one person - him.

Here's Trump saying that he's heard from many people complaining about "flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times."

There was some SCI in there too.

He’s screwed.

For those asking:

SCI is “sensitive compartmented information” — also known as code-word intelligence — meaning these are the programs that you have to be “read in” to, and divulging that information is a felony that the government does *not* play about.
Thing is, as President, technically he could declassify whatever he liked. So he might hide behind that as a defense...

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if you become aware that someone may have committed a federal felony, it’s important to call the FBI and not save it for your next book
I seem to remember that Maggie H sat down with trump for hours of "Exclusive access" for her book. I have a feeling that apart from this detail to get people buying the thing, the book will be mainly about the rays of light that shine from his rear end.

The information that has come out as a result of this revelation, about all the hiding and stealing of confidential documentation, is probably unintentional, and FAAAARRR more interesting.

He could, but he can't now.

IIRC there is more to declassification than DJT saying "I declassified that before I packed it"

Remember, early in his presidency, he met with some Russian officials and handed them some classified documents? There was a bit of a stink about it, but, the furor died down and the concensus seemed to be that the act of giving them to the Russians constituted declassifying them.

Theoretically, he could argue that, similarly, the act of removing them from the WH (as long as he did it before noon on Jan. 20, 2021) effectively declassified them. I think that argument is BS.

I seriously doubt that TFG will be formally charged with illegally removing classified material, although I think that he should be.

Hungary’s far-right prime minister Viktor Orbán is hoping Donald Trump will travel to Budapest in the coming weeks to boost his reelection campaign.

A thinktank linked to the Orbán government, the Centre for Fundamental Rights, has issued an invitation to Trump, a government source told The Guardian.

The invitation comes as Orbán moves into campaigning mode ahead of a closely fought election due on 3 April, when his Fidesz party will face a united opposition coalition, in what is seen as the biggest challenge to his rule since he became prime minister 12 years ago.

No, I don't remember that. I remember him meeting with Lavrov in the Oval and him telling Lavrov highly classified stuff involving another country (probably Israel).

Trump went on to discuss aspects of the threat that the United States learned only through the espionage capabilities of a key partner. He did not reveal the specific intelligence-gathering method, but he described how the Islamic State was pursuing elements of a specific plot and how much harm such an attack could cause under varying circumstances. Most alarmingly, officials said, Trump revealed the city in the Islamic State's territory where the U.S. intelligence partner detected the threat.
