With more than thirty counts to be charged, my trick elbow thinks that maybe--perhaps--possibly that some of the charges might be related to tax fraud or evasion.

I will admit that trying to tie the $130K to a campaign finance violation might be a tough sell to twelve citizens, especially if he turns on his charm and says that he was doing it for Melanoma. But if he deducted that payment and others on his business returns that ultimately flowed into his personal tax returns for the State of New York and the City of New York, that is an easy sell to the average taxpayer. Even the most uninformed person knows that personal expenditures are not deductible on business returns. And I am certain that he signed not only the business returns but also his personal returns under that pesky penalty of perjury. A person cannot use ignorance as a defense for tax fraud/evasion if they signed the returns.

I do not know the New York State threshold for tax fraud or evasion--whether it is a dollar amount or a tax amount. But if Michael Cohen appeared numerous times before this grand jury, there could be other matters beyond Stormy Weather that he testified to.

I speak only for myself, but I am waiting with bated breath and a bottle of Bulleitt rye whiskey for the charges this Tuesday.

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Top brass at the NYPD issued a memo on Thursday instructing all officers to wear their uniforms and prepare for mobilization following the Manhattan grand jury indictment of former President Donald Trump.

The internal NYPD memo, obtained by PIX11 News, stated that officers of all ranks should perform their duties in uniform and be prepared for mobilization beginning Friday morning.
