I'm gonna miss that guy.


I'm not trying to be rude, but I'm not reading the posts in my own thread about the vandalism incident last night, because as I said I'm trying to let it go. If you want to discuss it you are more than welcome, but I'm going to walk it off. Unless anything like that ever happens again. Maybe I'll read it tomorrow.

It's a lovely day here today. I went back to the gym for the first time in 2022, the number of COVID cases in my county went back down to below what it was before Omicron hit us, so I feel safe. Just me, my friend Arnie, and 18 ladies in the class. Arnie gets the coffee or something, I don't really know him, despite any photos. On the other hand, if you overdo on the first day back weightlifting, especially at my age, you'll be sore for days. I did half the class and went home. I can feel it, but I'm not going to be suffering all weekend. I'll probably go to the gym on Sunday for a Musical Asskicking class, and bring my new 6' x 6' exercise mat. Now I wish I'd bought it electric green or sumpin', instead of plain ol' black.

Elsewhere in the universe, good news at Chateau_G - Mrs new teefs fit, and she had her first chewable meal in almost three years last night: roast beef, mash potatoes, gravy, green beans, and carrots.

Granted, everything was overcooked so it was easy to chew. But, the denturist did a great job for $2500 making sure they stayed snug without Polident. Those things glommed on like a tick on a hound, and didn't budge. Sips of coffee did not bust them loose. She got a couple sore spots by the time dinner was over, but a dab of Numzit cured those fast. She cleaned them easily, and they got their first night's sleep in their little cozy.

It is so unusual to see my sweetie with a smile again. I am very pleased.

I have my own but my parents didn’t. All my cavities as a kid were filled without anesthesia. My siblings too. John Adams suffered great pain from dental problems. We should be grateful that for most of us dental agony can be thing of the past. Modern dentistry is a great thing.

Not me. I need a bit of novacaine before they get to work on my teeth, but I don't need to go to sleep.

Like so many other things in my Life, I've been blessed with pretty good teeth. I go to the dentist every decade or so. I recently had a bridge replaced and a new bridge made for a back tooth that broke a half dozen years ago. I don't particularly take great care of them. They take care of themselves. Seems to run in the G Clan especially the men. My Dad had few dental issues. Neither did his twelve brothers and sisters. Even Grampa G had all his own when he passed in his eighties. Everyone of us married someone with bad teeth.

I mean, her teeth looked good when we were younger, but as time went on, the dentist became a big deal for Mrs and our G sprouts. Holy Moly. Eat an apple, break a tooth. Chew some candy, lose a filling. Play some football, lose a tooth. Underage drinking at a high school kegger turns into a testosterone exhibition (surprise!), fists flail, and teeth fall out. Totally weird.

When Mrs got really sick, she started losing her teeth. She elected to have them pulled so she could get some dentures, but they never fit well. And for two plus years we've been trying to find a set that fit well. I think we have finally arrived. Fingers crossed. I've probably totally jinxed it by talking about. This message will self destruct in 30 seconds or so.

I inherited my mom’s cavity prone teeth and was in junior high before having Novocain. I agree… thank God for modern dentistry!

bill, a good denturist is beyond measure. The sore spots will go away but the tight fit will last for a while. Yay! Give the mrs a congrats hug from me.

I, too, inherited bad teeth. I went from a needle broken off in my gums to a cracked tooth to full uppers in 10 painful years. Dentures can be a blessing.

Sprout has perfect teeth. His dentist called his whole team in to show them, his first visit. “ Say hello and goodbye to Master 520. You won’t be seeing him much. Now, look at this medial…..”

I had a lot of teeth when I was young filled by a dentist who rarely used Novocaine. He said if a dentist really knew what he was doing, he wouldn't hit a nerve. He was apparently right, as I never felt pain when he worked on my teeth. I told a later dentist that, and he thought that dentist was very brave. He said HE was too afraid of hurting someone without Novocaine.

My (self diagnosed) OCD is kicking in today.

Everywhere in the house seems to be some multiple of 5 steps from everywhere else.

From my office chair to the door is 5 steps.
From the office door to the landing at the bottom of the stairs is 20 steps.
From the bottom of the stairs to the toilet is 20 steps.
From the toilet to the wash basin is 2 steps, then back to the towel rail is 3 steps (there was no hand towel at the basin
From the towel rail to the microwave is 25 steps.
From the microwave to the bottom of the stairs is 5 steps.
From the bottom of the steps to the car door is 40 steps (I left my reading glasses in the car).
Rinse and repeat.

This is ridiculous, its like an ear worm except its counting.

My dad counted steps. He could tell you exactly how many steps any staircase was, those were his specialty. I miss him.

There is a sizable Ukrainian and Polish population in our neighborhood. My wife has Polish heritage and a lot of the families are second or third generation. There were also several Displaced Persons. The Polish and Ukrainians are great people and are generally friendly with each other.

I learned a lesson (probably 35 years ago). I was talking with a coworker and found out she was from the neighborhood. Her married name didn’t reflect her heritage (as my wife’s doesn’t). She said she was Ukrainian and of course knew my wife’s family.
I made the mistake of calling her a Russian. At that point I found out how Ukrainians view Russia. To her it was worse than the “n” word. I apologized, I didn’t realize, I don’t think she ever truly forgave me.
It was one thing for a longtime Polish neighbor to jokingly say it, but I was an outsider and could never put it in the right context.

I'm lost. I can't find Foggy's thread about Ukraine and some other issues. There are many threads, but I think we need more different threads. I posted a video of Zelensky speaking to many people across Europe. We also have videos of him in other situations, including his tv series. I'd like to have thread with his videos.

I typically start at the Active Topics page, but lately, when I want to just view the Putin War threads, click on “Russian Invasion of Ukraine” within one of the posts on the Active Topics page and it will take you to the viewforum.php?f=64 page of just Putin War posts.

No idea if this is real.
