It can't be helping that even after he was sued, he continues to post garbage videos and spout off on any show that will have him. Somebody uptopic suggested ultimately he might say he was back on drugs... he sure seems manic and delusional, wouldn't be a surprise. And instead of focusing on his frank thing, he's back on the MyStore Amazon killer thing, more Mary Fanning hoax videos, personal appearances... the boy is a hot mess!

Expecting him to sing this in the courtroom :P

Yeah, well at least we finally have an answer for the burning question posed in the movie Something About Mary.

As I recall, Ted shows up for his prom date with Mary, early in the film, and goes to the bathroom, where he proceeds to get his genitals caught in his zipper, in a very, very painful way.

And Mary's stepfather, Charlie Jensen (played by Keith David), asks from outside the bathroom door, "Is it the frank or the beans?"

So now we know - it's the Frank.

I'm glad we could clear up that little item. :smoking:

IANAL, but I think it would be, if those statements were objectively true.

He must figure that, since he is going to end up owing Dominion everything he owns, he might as well blow through all his assets on stupid, doomed-to-fail ventures like Frank and MyStore, leaving him broke and judgement proof.

At this point, trying to take on Amazon is like Malcolm Bricklin or even John DeLorean trying to take on General Motors, Ford and Chrysler. It requires cubic megadollars to even begin to try, and then will almost certainly fail, bigly.

Yeah, reading the description of what kinds of products Lindell intends to sell on the site, I don't think he realizes it's hardly ecommerce at the scale of a large Etsy store, let alone Amazon. But it made me giggle, so.

I know a little bit about distributed computing and about scalability. Building a site that can support hundreds of thousands of simultaneous users is really, really hard, even when the workload on the platform is as trivial as short messaging. It gets hard if you want to allow uploaded video, which would be desirable if your "thing" is "unlimited freedom of speech" so that you're not hurt if YouTube decides to ban a linked video.

It also gets hard when you have a client web app or a mobile app that can efficiently ping the server for notifications of new messages in a thread that's currently being displayed. It's hard to ping for alerts quickly (which keeps the screen updated in real time and is nice for users) but which doesn't grind servers to a halt building a package of changed data to push to the client. I worked on push-driven alerts for database changes 30 years ago and some of the smartest guys around were unable to crack the code on that given the capability of the servers of the time, so I know how deceptively easy it looks but how hard alerting really is.

Basically, to compete with AWS, Facebook, Google or the rest, you need buildings full of world-class smart guys. The caliber of people you need to build that kind of performance, stability and functionality, especially in doing it really fast, are motivated by two things: the chance to work with other people as smart as they are, and/or the opportunity to get filthy rich by a company that grows explosively and then goes public at a ludicrous valuation. Lindell and the partisan hacks he can attract are going to be morons that no smart developer would give the time of day to, and the goal is not to establish financial value via an IPO, but to support ideological nonsense. It's like Lysenkoism but applied to computer science instead of agriculture.

I'm sure Lindell has a handful of D-list developers, all of whom are assuring him that the site will scale, but none of whom have any idea what real scalability and failover actually entails. It'll be even more of a barnyard shit show than Parler.

If I had the time and didn't mind playing in cesspools, I would so create a couple of different personas. One where the first statement was "Praise Allah" and the next, Communism is Great.

Then count down how long until they're baned.

Mike Lindell's Frank 'Free Speech' Site to Ban Swearing, Porn, Taking God's Name in Vain
BY JASON MURDOCK ON 4/13/21 AT 6:13 AM EDT

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell has said his upcoming "free speech" platform won't allow users to swear, post porn or take God's name in vain. In a video uploaded to a static webpage acting as a placeholder for the so-called social media service—which is pitched as a mixture of YouTube and Twitter—he said that while the website will let users speak their mind, some restrictions will apply.

Lindell said: "You don't get to use the four swear words. The C-word, the N-word, the F-word or God's name in vain. Free speech is not pornography, free speech isn't 'I am going to kill you,' it is very well defined in our mission statement." For now, that mission statement remains unclear, as does the website's functionality, layout, funding, management structure, user base and back-end infrastructure.

The Donald Trump-supporting businessman said people can get "VIP early access" to the platform by submitting their phone numbers. Those users will be alerted via a text and get a glimpse of the site at midnight on Thursday this week, he said. The platform will open for all users on Monday (April 19). "It's going to be a two-day, I call it a "Frankathon," I am going to be on there live, all day long," Lindell said.

What do we get if we get banned from Franks & Beans?
MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's Social Media Site to Give 'Bonus' to YouTube-Banned Users
BY JASON MURDOCK ON 3/31/21 AT 4:45 AM EDT

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell has claimed his new social media site will give its users a "bonus" if they are kicked off YouTube. In an interview with The Eric Metaxas Show published on March 30, Lindell said his own service, called Frank, is scheduled to launch within the next two weeks and pitched it as a mixture of video uploads, personal posts and community discussion forums. "Everybody [is] coming over, and they will be able to talk without worrying about getting kicked off YouTube. On my platform if you get kicked off YouTube you are going to get a bonus," Lindell said during the show. "We give bonuses if you are kicked off YouTube. You know why? That means you are actually speaking your mind again."

It was not immediately clear what the bonuses would actually be, or how the incoming social media platform would be set up to accommodate such a system. The Donald Trump-supporting businessman, who is well known for spreading baseless election fraud conspiracies, previously suggested Frank will combine ideas from both YouTube and Twitter, and claimed it will have capacity to handle a billion users. Lindell claimed infrastructure will be hosted on self-bought servers to avoid any suspensions by Amazon, Apple or Google—which have previously disrupted the operations of other platforms popular among conservatives, including Parler and Gab.
***
Lindell told The Eric Metaxas Show that his platform will have forum sections dedicated to discussion of controversial topics, including election fraud, and claimed podcasts and news shows are reluctant to discuss Dominion, vaccines and border issues. He said the platform will be "very traditional," letting users search, watch videos, follow other accounts and comment under posts uploaded by unnamed influencers. He said it will have a section to let users discuss news happening in their own states. Lindell, who was banned from Twitter in January for violating its misinformation policies, also asserted on the show: "[Twitter CEO] Jack Dorsey, he takes down people. And so does Google, taking down people on YouTube. We are going after both of them."

* Can't even type those words, but for Frank might have to make an exception. God told me it's His will. Mike has to make an exception for a sincerely held religious belief.
