OK, I'm not completely delusional.

Here's an example of a post with a twitter link for which x.com has been replaced by Twitter.com, with no link wrapper code around the twitter link, and the Fogbow post does not display the twitter post unless you click on it:

https://thefogbow.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 66#p265066

And here's a copy of the twitter link in my post:

https://Twitter.com/planterspunch7/stat ... 3109083455

Changed to 'twitter' by much ado...

The code that looks for embedded twitter links is case sensitive. It is looking for "twitter", not "Twitter". So that is part of the problem. Domains in URLs are not case sensitive, but the code that locates twitter links in posts is.

I don't know why the post cannot be found.

Thanks, that's interesting. I'll use lowercase "twitter.com" and see what happens.

It tries to open but the tweet must have been deleted. Says does not exist.

But the uppercase Twitter one _does_ open, if you click on it.

https://Twitter.com/planterspunch7/stat ... 3109083455

There may be some kind of caching going on ...

Anyhow, henceforth I'll use lower case twitter, which seems to work as advertised, except for this particular tweet.

I dunno about embedding Xcrements cause I don't do it.

But I just now clicked on some Xcrement or other and ended up opening 15 tabs with such posts in it.

Seems like maybe Elon has invented Tribbles (as in born pregnant) maybe?

That is a very strange one you have stumbled across chancery. I took the above link directly from the post on Twitter. Bizarre.

The tweet is labeled sensitive content so there may be some trigger preventing it from showing on other platforms.

Well, also, too, I do not have an X/twitter account so I might be underage and not allow to see the content, so for me the content is "not found". Do the users who see the content have X/twitter accounts?

To answer my question, I set up an X account and now I can see the sensitive content. You probably have to be over 18 years old to view the content. If you don't have an account, you can't see it.

So that is all that is going on here.

Just FYI the board picks up x.com now, you don't have to change it to twitter.com anymore to embed the tweet.

But you do have to surround it with url tags if you don't want it to embed.

You reported an improvement I made. That's not a problem. :fingerwag:

I updated the phpBB Media Embed extension (and a few others that go with the latest version of the software). Several days ago, Sunday in fact.

Your punishment is to visit https://onemillioncheckboxes.com/ and spend the rest of your life checking and unchecking checkboxes.

And the weird gap between the Subject area and the text box in Safari is gone. That was a software issue the phpBB people seem to have fixed.
