Great. We can wrap this hearing up in an hour. DeWine trusted his political donor Norfolk Southern and his own state agency to handle the cleanup. He refused to declare it a disaster to get fed assistance. When he finally did after Sherrod Brown put heat on, he got it. Adjourned.

The Kansas City Star reported Nora Guthrie, daughter of singer Woody Guthrie, wrote an email asking Hawley to stop using the song to promote his "This Land is Our Land Act," which would prevent U.S. farmland from being owned by anyone associated with the Chinese Communist Party.
Guthrie said politicians have long used "This Land Is Your Land" to promote their campaigns and the U.S.
"In this particular case, the co-opting or parodying of the lyric by those not aligned with Woody's lyrics – i.e. misrepresentation by autocrats, racists, white nationalists, anti-labor, insurrectionists, etc. – is not condoned," Guthrie wrote. "We do not consider Josh Hawley in any way a representative of Woody's values therefore we would never endorse or approve of his reference to Woody's lyrics."
"It is more of a vision of democracy," Guthrie said of the song. "The song simply reiterates the concept, 'By the people, for the people.'"
The paper pointed out that Guthrie has no legal avenue to prevent Hawley from using the lyrics.

Pretty long leap from the fact that it was a Christian school to it being an attack on Christians in general..
Might turn out to be true, I guess, but what's come out so far seem that this was kindled by some old sour grapes.

Worth pointing out that despite being the sole Senator that voted against the federal hate crimes bill, Hawley is all in on investigating the Nashville shooting as a federal hate crime.

Josh Hawley is a neo-Confederate at war with modernity. A Republican senator from Missouri, he opposed renaming military bases honoring rebel generals and was the sole vote against a bill to crack down on anti-Asian hate crime. After the supreme court ruled that federal law protects employees against discrimination based on sexual orientation, Hawley bemoaned “the end of the conservative legal movement”. That the decision was written by Neil Gorsuch, an arch-conservative, was irrelevant.
On 6 January 2021, Hawley gave a clench-fisted salute to Trump supporters at the Capitol. After the deadly riot, he voted against certifying the 2020 election. His last book, The Tyranny of Big Tech, featured a blurb from Tucker Carlson – the now former Fox News host who fantasized about the murder of a Black man, dabbled in “testicle tanning” and produced a series called The End of Men.
In December 2021, after Hawley delivered a talk about the dangers of pornography, Carlson hosted the senator to vent some more. Hawley’s latest literary contribution, Manhood, picks up where he left off. His timing is priceless.
Last month, a grand jury in Manhattan indicted Donald Trump in connection with a hush money scheme to silence a porn star, Stormy Daniels, who claims a sexual affair. This week, a federal jury on the same island determined that Trump sexually assaulted and defamed the writer E Jean Carroll. The six men and three women ordered the predator-in-chief to pay $5m in damages.
But Hawley is a plutocrat-populist as well as a hectoring moralist. For all his smut-bashing, the latest developments affecting Trump have left him profoundly unmoved. After all, Trump delivered tax cuts and helped bury Roe v Wade. Hawley attacks Disney but took $10,000 from the Citizens United Political Victory Fund himself. According to the senator, corporations may shell out – but then shut up.
After Trump pleaded not guilty in the porn-star case, Hawley professed continued loyalty.

I love how the QOP likes to bandy the words "globalist" and "globalism" around, making them into insults. They seem to be isolationists in the sense that they want to withdraw all US forces from anywhere in the world and not participate in peace talks anywhere.
OTOH, they think that the rest of the world should/must do what the US wants them to do, even though they want the US to have no presence beyond our borders. It doesn't work that way.
SInce WWII, we have been the most powerful military force in the world, as well as the world's largest and most robust economy. That brings responsibility to act like a world power. If we are to have influence around the world, we must BE around the world.
Yet, the MAGATs seem to believe that the rest of the world owes us obediance, while we owe them nothing.
