Here it is up 50% in the last year

House prices have doubled in the last 2 years

Living out of a city and working from home in a nice bit of NSW is driving those prices.

Did the fires affect rent prices?

They made it sound like Oz pretty much burned to the ground. How is the recovery going?

50% in a year!?! That's insane.

In other news, our AZ governor continues to suck eggs.
Jeremy Duda @jeremyduda wrote: Gov. @dougducey doesn't regret spending $500k to elect a GOP senator with white nationalist ties because she's "still better than" a Democrat
Rather have a Russia supporting Nazi than a Democrat.

To be fair to Rogers, end-timers have been saying that for decades. So it is hardly new; just notable because of her position and visibility.

So Wendy Rogers has gotten herself in kind of a pickle over speaking at white nationalist events, praising white nationalists as patriots, and desiring to hang political enemies. Looks like she might get censured. Her take?

In re:

Re: Arizona behaving ... otherwise ...

It is uncommon in Arizona for a Republican to praise an openly feminist, pro-Planned Parenthood/reproductive justice[1], pro-LGBTQ[2], pro-Equity,[3], pro-Public Education[4], (gun-owning) gun violence prevention advocate[5], pro-accessibility[6] progressive Democrat.

Less common when the Republican is staunchly conservative ... and a party leader ... on the record ... in Session.

And yet ….

Admittedly, there's still a shitton of horrible bills getting through. But ... some of the worst have not gotten through.

And, admittedly, many Dem bills have been killed.

But .... more Dem bills have already gotten through in the past year, since she became Assistant Democratic Leader, than in the past 6 years combined … so far, and this session is not yet over.

*This* is why I quit my "day job" to help get Jen reelected. She's a *pragmatic" progressive who is works to get sh** DONE.

-----------------
[1]Jen is giving the "opening act" speech before Angela Davis’s keynote address at next month's Planned Parenthood-AZ Annual Event in Phoenix, where she’ll be calling for reproductive justice for people with disabilities.

[2]Among other things, as Chair of Phoenix Mayor's Commission on Disability, Jen helped shepherd through the expansion of the city's nondiscrimination ordinance to prohibit employment and housing discrimination based on sexual orientation in 2013.

[3]Among other things, Jen has worked with Mothers of the Movement to stem the tide of deaths of black men at the hands of police.

[4]Among other things, over the past two weeks, Jen worked to get the votes necessary to lift Arizona’s Aggregate Expenditure Limit (AEL), so that schools would not lose millions of dollars already specifically allocated to them this year, averting a disaster for public schools.

[5]Jen’s been advocating to prevent gun violence since she got out of rehab after being paralyzed by random gun violence – in Arizona, around the country, in the White House White House, and on Capital Hill .

[6]Jen’s been advocating for accessibility she got out of rehab. Her first advocacy work was to get Phoenix to change the ordinance regarding curb cuts – so that she could get from her house to the street’s shared trash/recycling bins. Of the 17 Democratic bills signed into law last year, 3 were Jen’s. All three focused on improving the lives of people with disabilities - and everyone else because we ALL benefit from safer sidewalks, safer health care, and protection from abuse and neglect when we become vulnerable.

She sounds amazing Tes, we would be blessed to have her in office. She's doing a lot of great work even without holding office. Here's her website for anyone interested in chipping in: https://jenforaz.com/ I'm a registered AZ voter, but not in her district. Do you know if I can sign her petition?

It's been over 30 years since a censure in AZ, that may change today.
Jeremy Duda @jeremyduda wrote: The Arizona Senate will vote on a motion to censure Wendy Rogers today. Boyer is a yes, meaning they only need one more Republican for the censure motion to pass.
Camryn Sanchez @CamrynSanchezAZ wrote: Senate Majority Communications Director @KimQuintero confirmed in a text that the Senate is voting to censure @WendyRogersAZ today. @PaulDBoyer said he will vote 'yes'

Somewhat.

Rebuilding is mostly done from the 2019 fires.

Some rebuilding is taking longer than hoped..
Demand for building materials and builders happened also by COVID.

And the current flooding is going to put more demands in place.

On the good news front - the last bit of October hail damage at our place has been fixed - ours wasn’t essential work so we were happy to wait.

Only registered Democrats or Independents in new LD 5 (or old LD24) can sign her petition.

However, here are a couple ways ANYONE can help:
  • Subscribe to her YouTube channel (We need 100 subscribers to get custom URL, so every subscribe matters. We haven't "pushed" her YouTube, because we don't really want to until she has custom URL...)
  • Help phone bank in late June/early July (Our primary is, effectively, our election. If we win the primary, we spend the fall helping fellow Dems in contested districts).

Wow, I can't believe the vote was that lopsided. Even Borrelli voted against her.

Of course, she's still better than a Democrat if you ask our governor.

They're trying to limit my freedom of speech!

Rogers has an awful lot of work in front of her.
