Wow.
They have no commissary to handle this but instead rely on outsourced venders.

Re: Hijack This Thread
Maybe cause it i not just a staff cafetaria but as I read in the article also serves the general public that tours the Capitol, aka a restaurant type business. But with what staff does that outside company intend to run the place? With staff that does not want a union representation? I understand that there was a move underway to have unionised standard contracts.
Re: Hijack This Thread
I've eaten in it as a tourist. Cafeteria food is probably not good enough for a lot of the members of Congress these days.

Per the article cited:
D.C. Health says the fox was responsible for nine confirmed bites on Capitol Hill, and is urging anyone who came into physical contact with a fox to contact D.C. Health.

Re: Hijack This Thread
We left for London on March 23rd to visit family and have a friend house and critter sitting while we’re away. Of our 5 children, (2 dogs and 3 cats) Pickle is the youngest and the sweetest.
The dogs are confined to about a 5-acre patch by an electric fence but the cats have free range to go where they will. Sadly the Pickle hasn’t been seen at all since we left. She is very funny about us going away but usually turns up from time to time to eat. The others all turn up like clockwork when it’s time to eat.
We live on 30 mostly wooded acres in the middle of thousands of mostly wooded and farmland acres and she is a good hunter, given the gifts she occasionally brings in and drops at my feet. I’ve been very worried about her. There is a doggie door they all use so it is possible she's been in the house but just not seen.
We had to get covid tested this morning to be able to fly home tomorrow and were both thankfully negative. When we get home I’m getting out ot the car and going straight down into the woods where I know she likes to hang out and call her. She always comes making sweet little mews when she hears me call her name. I’m going to be very sad if she doesn’t come home

Re: Hijack This Thread
Coming home yesterday, I get behind this big Chevy truck with a bevy of stickers. One is a Christian cross, but it was filled with stars like an American flag. Oh, and it had a vertical blue line down the center of the cross, the law enforcement support one. Right next to that sticker was one featuring an assault rifle. So, I guess this is something to the effect of American Jesus supports law enforcement and assault rifles?
Anyway, onto the soda crosses.
Oh, and I almost forgot!

Re: Hijack This Thread
I thirst.
I am impressed with the Mr. Pibb display. Not only did they add a purple veil (the liturgical color for lent), Mr. Pibb is close to the color "oxblood" which is the really proper color for Holy Week (though most folks do red).
All this being said, it is stupid, silly, and sort of offensive. Sure hope they take it down by Saturday night because that is the beginning of Easter and that is about resurrection, not the cross (unless they are orthodox and need to wait another week for Pascha).
