Rep Matt Gaetz is expected to be indicted within the next few weeks as former Florida official and friend Joel Greenberg is believed to have turned on the congressman in the sex trafficking investigation against him, a source close to the probe tells DailyMail.com.

Greenberg, who was elected Seminole County Tax Collector in 2016, is currently in jail awaiting trial after being slapped with a string of charges last year including sex trafficking a minor between the age of 14 and 17.

Earlier this week Gaetz was revealed to be under investigation for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old - who on Thursday was reported to be the same girl Greenberg is accused of sex trafficking, according to The New York Times.

The Florida Republican, 38, has furiously denied the allegations, instead insisting they are part of an alleged $25million extortion plot led by former Justice Department official David McGee.

But sources familiar with the matter say Gaetz's claims are just an attempt to divert attention from his connection to the Greenberg case as the investigation closes in on him.

1) How the hell does a county tax assessor manage to get into secure areas where state drivers licenses are processed?

I know it's Floridah, but still. Up north, our state offices are in totally different buildings from the county.

2) when were the identity theft indictments against Greenberg issued, and if there was evidence that Gaetz participated, why hasn't an indictment against him been issued?

I downloaded the third superseding indictment in the Joel Greenberg case, which was filed on Tuesday. It is a bit too large to attach (962k).

According to the indictment, Greenberg obtained driver's license information with respect to the 14-17 year old girl ("Minor Victim"), and then later used the ID information in connection with the Mann Act/procurement charges. (Counts Two and Four, respectively). Maybe a false ID upped her age in order to provide a defense to a Mann Act charge?

Three screenshots of texts between Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert, and Jake Novak, media director of the Israeli consulate in New York City were shared with TAC. The messages were authenticated by one of the parties to them.

In the first screenshot, Novak messaged Adams last Saturday to tell him about the investigation into Gaetz. The New York Times story on the Gaetz investigation was not published until Tuesday.

In the second, Novak appears to represent himself as deeply involved in the efforts to free Bob Levinson from Iran, telling Adams “this is screwing up my efforts to free Bob Levinson.”

“Gaetz’s dad was secretly finding [sic] us,” he continues. “So I’m very much wanting this to be untrue. I’ve got a commando team leader friend of mine nervously waiting for the wire transfers to clear.”

In the third screenshot, Novak casts doubt on Gaetz’s claims that he is being extorted. “The real documents do not extort,” he writes, “And we only asked for $25 million as an estimate at first. We came way down.”

From my understanding. the tie into the extortion story is that the extorted was asking for 25 mill, or they would blab on Gaetz stuff. The thing is that indicates the blackmail Material was true, otherwise Gaetz would have reacted differently, i.e. by telling them to get lost.

Aside from that there is no connection. The rapid fire unloading of evidence on Gaetz by everyone that hates him is unrelated and is extra stuff.

What the $25 million would do is free Robert Levinson (who had previously been declared dead) from captivity in Iran. Exactly MN. The curveball is this Israeli consulate guy, he's saying Matt's Dad had been funding it all along. And nothing wrong with that, McGee repped the family pro bono for 13 years. Maybe the Iranians through the Israelis said pay to release Levinson. So the extortion angle wouldn't make any sense, what threat of extortion when Daddy Gaetz was involved all the time? If this was Baby Gaetz trying the "flood the zone" playbook it's going to be a big cigar blowing up in his formerly pudgy face.

But all of that has nothing to do with the sex scandal of Matt's, that's Baby Gaetz and the jailed former Tax Collector of Seminole County (near Orlando) felon. They are not connected, other than, possibly, the DOJ/FBI has a hand in both 1) an investigation of Gaetz's illicit spending and sexual proclivities and (presumably), and 2) an investigation of some plan to make money off an attempt to free a dead man who was being held in Iran.

Gaetz, however, is pretending they are connected and saying that the FBI is the one extorting the money from his family and is making up a bogus sex/spending story to pressure him into paying up/complying/covering their ass.

That's it. IOW, there is no connection.

A settlement for an undisclosed amount was subsequently made concerning allegations of Medicare fraud.
But yes, probably as much as $500 million.

Also, I am self-aware enough to know that I have a bad habit of throwing cheap fashion cracks at men I dislike, but I cannot help myself: I should have guessed, because Nunes' suits are the kind where you have to spend money to look that bad. Sure, you can buy ill-fitting or badly-made suits off the peg, but not in the ridiculous plaid patterns that Gaetz favors. That kind of bad taste is expensive. He reminds me of a hot-shot criminal defense attorney near where I practice. Guy handles a lot of reasonably high-profile cases, especially homicides. I once saw him at a courthouse wearing a navy blazer over a pale orange shirt and pink pants (I honestly don't remember what shoes he was wearing to go with the trousers), brought together with a navy and pink bowtie.

I confess that if I were a judge, I would seriously consider holding in contempt an attorney who dressed that way in my courtroom. (As opposed to the asshole chauvinist judge in my area who used to sanction female attorneys for daring to wear pants instead of skirts.)
