Is it just me, or is it annoying that older music did a "fade out" on audio instead of a hard break?
Lot's of songs still do fade outs, but yeah, they're annoying. I used to do college radio and hated having to try to pick the right place in a fade out to start the next song. Hard endings were much nicer because I knew exactly when to hit the button :)

Envy of None, Alex Lifeson's new group, has released a 2nd single called "Look Inside". I don't think I like this one quite as much as I do "Liar" (their first single that I posted a few weeks back), but it's cool in its own way especially once it gets just past where the vocals initially kick in. Until then it's a bit off-kilter. It DEFINATELY doesn't sound ANYTHING like Rush, though!

Sly did most of the work in the studio, but he put together some great folks for touring. Cynthia Robinson (trumpet), Larry Graham (bass), Bill Lordan (drums), Sid Page (violin) among others:

Stanley Clarke and George Duke, two of the best ever:

It always makes me happy thinking of George, he always looked like he was having fun no matter if it was Frank, Stanley or Billy:

Stanley Clark was a favorite in college.

Now for something new. Wet Leg. Debuted on YouTube on the last day of February, and already have +300k views. So, somebody is already listening to them. YMMV

Evanescence turned out some new ballads almost a year ago proving they can still Goth like no one else. And Amy's voice is still sweet as ever.

Here is Greg Lake's "I Believe in Father Christmas" - I think this is the song you were referring to Maybenaut

Its a pretty popular one in Churches as well.
Greg Lake performs his 1975 classic "I Believe in Father Christmas" filmed live at St. Bride's Church, Fleet Street, in the City of London with Jethro Tull' s Ian Anderson on flute, David Arch on keyboards, Florian Opahle on acoustic guitar and the church choir.

Just because I'm a metal head....

Allow me to introduce you to Mongolian Metal.

The band is called The HU. They do traditional songs set to metal using traditional instruments, and includes some throat singing. Enjoy!

Have you seen The Charismatic Voice analysis of The Hu?

She loves to breakdown vocals of all genres. It can be maddening because she interrupts herself often, takes a tangent, and then returns.

Watch her facial expressions.

Yes! I saw that. I love watching her and try to remember to catch her videos. Her analysis is fun to listen to and she is so enthusiastic about music in general. I love it.

So after my 6th grade year in Catholic school my parents sent me to yet another summer enrichment program [i.e. a summer school, but with stuff you might actually want to learn, my first electronics class was one of these, I was taking them since after the 4th grade, I digress...]. This time I was to take a dance class, ballroom style, so here I present the first song I ever danced with a girl to....

[Narrator: the crown is already yawning, get on with it...]

Her name was Ashley for those who ask, short, but cute, 50's style glasses, the type that went to a point at the outside of the rims, dirty blonde hair...

[Narrator: You make the assumption that anyone cares, and everyone knows when you make an assumption, you make an ass out of you...and umption.]

Yeah, had she not gone to the Catholic school 25 miles north of mine she would have ended up as my first girlfriend...

[Narrator: See previous narration...]

Who that was...a story for another time....

[Narrator: At which point the audience will douse themselves in gasoline and light themselves aflame to escape your piss poor storytelling...]
"He sewed his eyes shut because he is afraid to see, He tries to tell me what I put inside of me
He's got the answers to ease my curiosity, He dreamed a god up and called it Christianity"

Keeping with Tchaikovsky, this is my second favorite by him from Symphony No. 6 in B Minor Allegro con grazia

[Narrator: These folks will burn you at the stake if you ever post Nine Inch Nails here...]

Surprisingly upbeat for him...

Some of my experience of Tchaikovksy is of him being more upbeat. Let me introduce you to the final movement of his 2nd Symphony in c minor (though the last movement is in C Major). The opening is slow and majestic, but then things really pick up.

I played this in high school (violin), and when I listened while following the score, I wondered, how the hell I played this in high school.

To give a bit of an idea here is a small segment of the Violin I part. Those extra lines mean you pay that note multiple times. So for a quarter note with 2 cross lines, you play it 4 times, i.e. sixteenth note. The eight-note with one, you play twice, i.e. repeated sixteenth notes. This is an ink-saving device and also easier to read.

Oh, and those sixteenth notes go by very, very quickly.

This updated version of America the Beautiful was released in July 2020. It has essentially become my "daily prayer" since I first heard it.

Catching up after a long drought

Keith and RV, thanks for Playing for Change. New to me.

Love the Indigo Girls! Galileo was my anthem for a while. Their lyrics were anthems for a lot of women I know.

“The Mississippi’s mighty
But it starts in Minnesota
At a place that
you could walk across
With 5 steps down.”

From the ultimate heartbreak song, Ghost.

Thank you tes. It’s lovely.
