Presumably Russian Blues will be allowed at shows if they aren't owned by Russians, etc.

The Board of FIFe feels it cannot just witness these atrocities and do nothing, so it decided that as of 01.03.2022:
● No cat bred in Russia may be imported and registered in any FIFe pedigree book outside Russia, regardless of, which organization issued its pedigree.
● No cat belonging to exhibitors living in Russia may be entered at any FIFe show outside Russia, regardless of, which organization these exhibitors hold their membership in.
These restrictions are valid until 31.05.2022 and will be reviewed as and when necessary.

Yes, I read that.

Russian Blues are a breed which originated in Russia. It's a misleading headline, as the accompanying photo is of Russian Blue cats. It implies that Russian Blues are banned simply because they are a 'Russian cat'.

Perhaps I am not expressing this clearly.

Soprano Anna Netrebko withdrew from her future engagements at the Metropolitan Opera rather than repudiate her support for Russian president Vladimir Putin, costing the company one of its top singers and best box-office draws.

“It is a great artistic loss for the Met and for opera,” the Met’s general manager, Peter Gelb, said in a statement on Thursday. “Anna is one of the greatest singers in Met history, but with Putin killing innocent victims in Ukraine, there was no way forward.”

Gelb had said on Sunday that the Met would not engage artists who support Putin.

The Met made repeated efforts in recent days attempting to convince Netrebko to repudiate Putin but failed to persuade her, a person familiar with the developments said, speaking on condition of anonymity because that detail was not announced.

Ikea has temporarily closed all stores and factories across Russia in a move affecting 15,000 workers, becoming the latest in a swathe of western firms to halt operations in the country since it invaded Ukraine.

The Swedish flatpack furniture company has mothballed its 17 outlets across Russia but said it would keep its Mega shopping centres open to allow access to essential retailers, such as food shops and pharmacies. The news prompted a rush of shoppers at the stores due to close.

Production at three manufacturing sites in Russia will also be paused, and all imports and exports in and out of the country and its ally Belarus will be halted.

Brand owner Inter Ikea and store owner Ingka Group said they had “secured employment and income stability” for the workers directly impacted by the decisions, including its 416 co-workers in Ukraine, where its one store and online operations have been suspended since the start of the invasion on 24 February.

'Course, they have billions; it's not like the teachers in Kentucky are going to suffer (from this, they're still in a red state and are probably f*cked).

The thing is, if they lost 95% of their investment, the bank as a whole lost 95% of its value too also.

That could be a bad thing, for Russian banks. They might have to sell their properties they bought from Trump! They might have to call in Trump's loans! This could get really messy!

Unfortunately, I don't know how much the oligarchs really and truly can do anything to influence Putin. His inner circle are government cronies, not oligarchs. They are probably more like the outer inner circle. And I doubt the outer inner circle is getting anywhere near Putin right now. :(

I need a pair of rose colored glasses, because yeah, Ukraine has done an amazing job so far, but Putin has far more up his sleeve and a willingness to use anything and everything. He simply doesn't care.
