Are vacuum bombs outlawed internationally? I keep seeing people saying that their use is a war crime, but then on the other hand I remember the US using them to try and root out Al Qaeda from their tunnels in Afghanistan, so I dunno.

Honestly, it could be heavily guarded or it could be bait for a trap. Its been reported for days so it has to be moving extremely slowly, which could suggest its having to stop and start, which might mean it's being attacked all the time. t And frankly there could be nothing on it worth attacking, and the News is reporting on it as its a lovely visual thing they can show off.

I'm sure those people with the fingers on the buttons are as aware of it as we are, and have reasons for inaction.
After posting about it I watched a retired military general talking about it and said he wouldn't worry about it "yet". When I saw reports on it, they always showed the large units that hold all the missiles and I got the impression from that reporting that most of what was heading toward Kyiv was heavy artillery. But this guy said that most of it is supply trucks. And he talked about using up resources to hit that kind of target right now wouldn't be the best decision and there is apparently time.

Now I am hearing that the convoy has made "little movement" since yesterday.

Looked it up, they are not outlawed. They are devastating to humans, however. If you are unfamiliar with them, they basically light all the air on fire and suck out all the oxygen. Including from people's lungs. They aren't useful for stopping tanks or anything, but they are very useful for killing a bunch of civilians huddled in a subway station trying to stay out of harm's way. And their use is reportedly pretty standard for Russia against populated cities.

Morale must be a few levels below the shitter for Russian soldiers.
Some Russian troops are surrendering or sabotaging vehicles rather than fight, a Pentagon official says.

WASHINGTON — Plagued by poor morale as well as fuel and food shortages, some Russian troops in Ukraine have surrendered en masse or sabotaged their own vehicles to avoid fighting, a senior Pentagon official said on Tuesday.

Some entire Russian units have laid down their arms without a fight after confronting surprisingly stiff Ukrainian defense, the official said. A significant number of the Russian troops are young conscripts who are poorly trained and ill-prepared for the all-out assault. And in some cases, Russian troops have deliberately punched holes in their vehicles’ gas tanks, presumably to avoid combat, the official said.

Ukrainian journo @aydermuzhdabaev reports that Ukrainian soldiers start to have psychological difficulties because of killing so many Russians:“We feel as if we were butchers.” They keep and keep on coming. And Ukrainian soldiers keep and keep on shooting. It’s like a conveyor.

"Today, I visited the site of the disbandment of the 200th Motorized Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces near Kharkiv. At this location, a firing unit of the Ukrainian Javelin missile launcher demolished a Russian 2S3 Akatsia gun, the vehicle was blown to pieces together with its crew. On these fields I have personally counted over 30 units of destroyed and abandoned Russian equipment. The 1st BTGR of the 200th brigade was personally commanded by Brigadier Colonel Denis Kurilo, and this brigade is considered to be one of the best combat units of the Russian army, which receives the most modern armor. The brigade was defeated by one of our unequal mechanized battalions in the opening battle.
Now this combat equipment has joined the ranks of one of the ZSU brigades. And the battalion is already replenished with motivated reservists, who are transported exclusively in trophy Russian Kamaz trucks. And I will shortly devote new videos to Colonel Kurylo and the circumstances of his death."

Elite fighting unit sent to assassinate Ukraine President Zelensky killed
An elite Chechen fighting unit sent into Ukraine to kill President Volodymyr Zelensky has been neutralised, according to reports.

Kyiv's Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, Oleksiy Danilov, said the unit "which came to kill our President, was eliminated", during a televised address.

Logistics problems are stalling a massive Russian convoy that's pushing its way toward Kyiv, according to a senior U.S. defense official. The convoy, which has been measured as stretching for 40 miles, is apparently being hampered by fuel and food shortages.

Wait, I thought they were only 30 miles from Kyiv.

Any soldier worth the name can march at least 15 miles a day. Why do they need gas to get to the big city?

But... but... They are DENAZIFYING Ukraine, right?!? Despicable.

Laurence Tribe @tribelaw wrote: A Russian missile hit the Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial site in Kyiv today, killing at least five people. President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted: "[W]hat is the point of saying 'never again' for 80 years, if the world stays silent when a bomb drops on the site of Babi Yar?"
Also, Russian soldiers are reportedly punching holes in gas tanks to avoid advancing in Ukraine, I wonder how much of the logistical problems are really just Russian soldiers dragging their feet because they want no part of this?

The dark side of this coin is Putin executes all the soldiers involved, and brings in rabid loyalists to really begin the fight.
