Yeah, the MAGAts screamed bloody murder about the fact that HRC was using a non-government server to handle some of her official email traffic, even though it was not illegal to do so, at the time.

OTOH, they were strangely silent when Ivanka and Jarod (and probably TFG himself) were found to be using non-government email accounts to conduct official business, despite the fact that the law had been changed to make the practice illegal. IIRC, they didn't stop after it was made public.

Its also true that an investigation found that HRC never sent any classified material via that non-government server, although they did find (I believe) four classified items that someone else had sent to her.

Donald Trump, under criminal investigation for his finances, potentially facing desperate need of funding to help save his empire, stealing classified national security information from the White House and stashing it in Florida. What could’ve gone wrong?
I can't even begin to guess who he might think he could sell it to....

A federal judge ruled that Trump can be held civilly liable for the Capitol riot.
He also said Trump does not have absolute immunity from civil suits.
"The court well understands the gravity of its decision," the ruling said. "But the alleged facts of this case are without precedent."

A federal judge ruled on Friday that former President Donald Trump can be held civilly liable for the deadly Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.

Seeing these recent reports of not using approved devices for communication I would like to see someone (at the DOJ) study the archived logs, determine standard usage patterns and then querying the appearant and obvious "holes". Check with the persons business diary. Then ask them why they suddenly were so quiet while doing their job. Question: what other devices did you use... :blackeye:

After the impending war with Russia, the pitiful few American survivors can get all the transcripts of Trump's phone calls during the four years (and before, and after) from the few surviving Russians.

This will make surviving WWIII just a little happier.

Former president Donald Trump’s company is angling to host events at his golf courses for the controversial Saudi golf league, according to three people familiar with the matter, potentially handing Trump a lucrative business partnership with an oppressive regime he defended as president.

At least two of Trump’s courses in Bedminster, N.J., and Doral, Fla., could be named as sites for the nascent tour, according to the people familiar with the talks, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. Officials from LIV Golf Investments, the apparatus funded by the Saudis to host the tour, have held conversations with the Trump Organization, these people said.

One of the people familiar with the matter said Trump had spoken to Greg Norman, the head of LIV Golf Investments, about having his properties involved in the tour.

Somebody needs to now think loud about possible protests around those two locations at the time the tournament were to proceed. Somebody needs to think loud about the possibility that those golf clubs may at the time of the proposed tournament no longer be a T real estate.Somebod needs to think loud about the possibilities that fund transfers to the facilities may be held up, creditors getting their hands on free cash to cover missed payments.

The Archives never said that they "found" the documents at Mar a Lago.

What they are saying is that, when they opened the boxes that they retrieved, they found classified documents that should never have been removed from the WH. That is an entirely different thing.

Trump is trying to sell his lease on D.C. hotel, but lying to his accountant may cost him $375M

Now that Donald Trump is no longer able to use the hotel at the Old Post Office in Washington, D.C., as a means of exploiting extra dollars from those who wanted a fast track to the Oval Office or a quick pencil line through environmental regulations, he’s trying to let the whole thing go. Last November, Trump let it be known that his D.C. namesake Trump International Hotel was up for sale, with an asking price for the ongoing federal lease to the historic building set at $375 million.

For some, the sign that Trump was willing to give up the home of the worst cocktails in Washington was a good indicator that he wasn’t serious about coming back to town in 2024. For others, it was just an admission of how, under Trump’s management, the hotel managed to lose over $70 million in four years—in spite of having a Saudi lobbyist rent 500 rooms and Trump’s inaugural committee paying for rooms and event space that was never used.

Now it seems that Trump may lose both the hotel and his walking-away money, because his breakup with accounting firm Mazars means that the entire deal he made with the federal government was always based on false reporting.
With the word that Trump’s financial data cannot be trusted, the House Oversight Committee has asked the General Services Administration to consider simply terminating Trump’s deal for the D.C. hotel—no lease, no $375 million.

House Oversight Committee chair Rep. Carolyn Maloney made the position clear in a letter to the GSA. “We request that you consider terminating the Old Post Office Building lease to former President Trump and the Trump Organization under the authority provided in Article 27 of the lease, and end, once-and-for-all, the grave damage this inappropriate lease has done to presidential ethics and integrity in government contracting.”

Teflon Don.
The Federal Election Commission let Trump off the hook for allegedly using $2.8 million in charitable donations to veterans for political purposes

The Federal Election Commission let former President Donald Trump off the hook even after the body's legal counsel said he violated federal campaign finance laws with a fundraiser for Iowa veterans in 2016, according to documents made public this week.

At stake was whether Trump violated laws prohibiting "soft money" spending — using unregulated, non-campaign funds for political purposes — in connection with his 2016 presidential campaign. Specifically, Trump funneled roughly half of the $5.8 million he raised at the Des Moines veterans event on January 28, 2016 to his now-defunct Donald J. Trump Foundation. The Trump campaign then steered how the foundation, a separate entity, spent $2.8 million in charitable funds just ahead of the Iowa Republican caucuses.

Last month, the FEC voted along partisan lines to close the case. The Campaign Legal Center, an ethics and government watchdog, slammed the commission in a statement to Insider.

"The FEC failing to enforce campaign finance laws is nothing new, but the latest deadlock may be a new low," said Erin Chlopak, senior director for campaign finance at Campaign Legal Center. "The Commission's non-partisan, career attorneys found reason to believe the Foundation was illegally used to benefit Trump's presidential campaign. The Republican Commissioners voted not to pursue the matter. It is time for the FEC to do its job."
