I wonder if the buyer is having second thoughts after learning of this latest trump scandal. Or are they too far along to bolt?

Did the administration already agree to the transfer? I guess the shadow of misrepresentation will be sufficient to halt the proceedings, even break signatures.

Can they yank the lease and prevent Doltus from getting a penny? And then renegotiate with the new leaseholder themselves? The New leaseholder would probably get a better lease that way anyway, so he probably wont complain if that happens.

Maybe. I think its not a bad bet that the announced price was quite a bit higher than they were really gonna pay, to save face to the stable genius.

I know he now hates NYC, but if that org that will be tasked to create a pretend presidential library (with what - they just hijacked all his boxes?) could take over the rental of those top three floors of the T tower and he then could live in his library and show visitors around, much like he does at M-a-L.
Not a bad idea, but I don't think he's gonna need that much space for his "library." I figure it won't take much more than a phone booth to hold all the papers he didn't eat or flush, and that might be a bit small for him to live in...

I hope they do. He should never have been allowed to keep the lease once he became President, and it'd be great if he can't profit by selling the lease to someone else.

That whole deal he has with that Israeli company to sell it stinks as well. Why are they willing to pay $100M over market? Has anyone ever answered that?

I'm generally fairly pro Israel, but it is very true that they have a de facto non aggression pact with Russia, and Israel and Russia help each other out when it does not harm their interests. I would not be surprised if that is a big dollop of cash from Pappa Putin to Doggy Doltus through the intermediary of Israel.

Not to mention that the location of that Hotel would make it a perfect spy center for both Israel and Russia.

Since we are talking about presidential libraries, I'm going to throw out some statistics. The largest library in terms of physical size is the John F. Kennedy Library. It's a YUUUUUGGGGEEEEE building, consisting of 166,573 gross square feet on 13 acres.

It is followed closely by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum building consisting of 147,400 gross square feet on 29 acres.

The smallest Library in size is the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum at 47,169 square feet.

Interestingly, a library the size of the JFK or Reagan libraries is probably not going to happen in the future, because although not specifically limiting the size of Presidential Libraries, the Presidential Libraries Act of 1986 mandates that Library foundations must provide an endowment to NARA upon acceptance of the Library facility by the Archivist of the United States. The size of this endowment is based in part on the size of the facility.

The requirement of a significant increase in the endowment for facilities over 70,000 square feet has had the practical effect of limiting the size of newer Libraries to less than 70,000 square feet.

Since TFG won't be able to brag about his library being the biggest, one may never get built.

Donald Trump, under criminal investigation for his finances, potentially facing desperate need of funding to help save his empire, stealing classified national security information from the White House and stashing it in Florida. What could’ve gone wrong?

as mentioned upthread
Material Recovered From Trump by Archives Included Classified Information
In a letter to Congress, the National Archives confirmed that boxes taken from the White House by the former president included classified national security documents.

WASHINGTON — The National Archives confirmed on Friday that it had found classified information among documents that President Donald J. Trump had taken with him to his home in Florida from the White House and that it had consulted with the Justice Department about the matter.

The agency “has identified items marked as classified national security information within the boxes,” according to a letter posted on the National Archives and Record Administration website that was sent to Representative Carolyn B. Maloney, Democrat of New York and the chairwoman of the House Oversight Committee, who has been scrutinizing how Mr. Trump handled presidential records.

“Because NARA identified classified information in the boxes, NARA staff has been in communication with the Department of Justice,” said the letter, written by David S. Ferriero, the national archivist.

In the past two weeks, a series of disclosures has raised new questions about whether Mr. Trump followed federal record-keeping laws or mishandled classified information after he left office. The National Archives said in its letter on Friday that the Trump White House had failed to turn over records that included “certain social media records.”

Mr. Ferriero also wrote that “some White House staff conducted official business using nonofficial electronic messaging accounts that were not copied or forwarded into their official electronic messaging accounts.” The archives said it was in the process of obtaining some of those records.

The disclosure that Mr. Trump had classified information among the documents he took with him from the White House has prompted assertions from Democrats of hypocrisy. Mr. Trump made attacking Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of national security materials a centerpiece of his 2016 presidential campaign.

In January, after lengthy negotiations between his lawyers and the National Archives, 15 boxes of materials that Mr. Trump had taken from the White House were sent back to the National Archives. The boxes included items like official letters, White House documents and gifts that are considered presidential records, are government property and were supposed to be housed at the National Archives.
