Are we doing nothing to mark the anniversary of LaVoy Finicum going to the Great Blue Tarp in the sky? Is the widder holding a memorial fundraiser? Will thousands of poots gather to freshen up his elaborate roadside monument?
I mean, it's a bank holiday so everyone has the day off, right?

Anyone have the coordinates?
No, but the “memorial” is supposed to at the location the shooting took place:
“ The Oregonian/OregonLive confirmed the location of the confrontation after officials reopened the stretch of highway between Burns and Seneca. The scene lies along a half-mile bend in the road next to the Joaquin Miller Horse Camp, an isolated campground 16.4 miles north of the junction of U.S. 395 and U.S. 20 near Burns.”

I did not name it on Google Maps. It popped up with the name when I clicked on what I thought was the spot (using a trucked parked there as a clue).
As of July 2021, it does not look like there is anything left. There are some stones lying about in a pile that were not there in 2012 so that could be the remnant of something the poots built.

Of all the people who fell into thrall with the Bundys, Moo has always, for me, been the one whose association with the Bundys is the most devastating. Married with a good job, two decent household incomes, nice house, kids, the whole shebang. And look where she is now.
And like all the other people who put their lives on hold, threw away good paying jobs or entire lifestyles, estranged from friends and family, all for the sake of the Bundys none of them are still in his circle and I bet none of them get so much as a Christmas card.
I think she’s met her goatdaddy. And I’m happy for her, as long as she doesn’t turn him into a terrorist.

Can’t be there, Tarpman was ambushed and assassinated round a blind bend
I guess traveling 50-60 miles per hour, around a curve, at night can seem like a blind bend.
It was actually a pretty good place for a stop. It is past a curve and they could stage in the horse camp, and also use that driveway to close off the road behind the running child.

Thanks. Is this a random rock or a black tombstone?C7250DB5-1061-421B-A137-FF0E940D4AA7.png
Tree stump, I think.
Couldn’t tell. Wasn’t there a fire or did poots claim there was one? It looks blackened.
There was - there were unconfirmed rumors that Moo and Gas Man accidentally started it when they stopped there to pay homage to LaVoy by taking a smoke break. I remember that Moo was really scared and went and talked to then Sheriff Ward about it. AFAIK the actual cause was never identified.

Oh, yeah, vaguely coming back. Why were they scared? It’s their right to burn public lands, amirite?

Six years ago today cliven was arrested by the FBI at PDX while skippy watched helplessly. Good times.
I was working in public health during those days. Multnomah county HD providers the medical care at that jail. Seriously, one of my all time favorite shifts. I laughed so hard seeing him fuming while sitting in open holding. The best was staying over to screen the rest of the scofflaw‘a who the USM drug in on noc shift.

Ha-ha. I remember that day. I think you were on OLive then unless I am confusing you with someone else. Fun times.

I remember how some of the locals kept tearing it down and the poots would come back with even bigger mountain of trash. I always thought the locals should just sit back for a few months and wait until the novelty wore off. Then go in and take it all down after the poots would have long forgotten about their precious memorial. Looks like time worked it's magic, as usual.
