Same story from WaPo with mostly the same info except for this:
Previous reporting from The Washington Post showed the 263-room property was running about half empty and losing money, but the documents provide by far the most detailed accounting to date of the hotel and how Trump won the contract for the lease in 2013.

The documents show, for instance, that Trump’s company had to inject the hotel with more than $24 million in cash from his company’s coffers to offset losses.

The Palm Beach Police and Fire Foundation is planning a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago this winter that will likely put some quarter-million dollars into Donald Trump’s cash registers — despite the former president’s incitement of the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol that led to the deaths of five police officers and injuries to 140 more.

The charity would not disclose how much it will be paying Trump’s for-profit South Florida club to host the Jan. 22, 2022, “Policemen’s and Fire Fighters’ Ball.” Tax filings with the IRS, however, show that it paid $235,012 in 2020, $214,760 in 2019 and $262,261 in 2018 in facility rental costs for the same event in those years, all of which were also held at Mar-a-Lago.

A spokesman for the Palm Beach Police Department said it was not involved in choosing the site. “I really cannot provide a comment on whether it’s appropriate or not,” said Capt. Will Rothrock. “The department is apolitical ... I can’t really speak to the former president’s actions.”
:snippity:
Maureen O’Sullivan, a foundation spokeswoman, said the group is not making a statement either way about Trump. “The organization is not politically motivated,” she said.

She added that the group entered a long-term contract with Mar-a-Lago that locks in a lower price than it could otherwise get, and that Palm Beach does not have many places that can host an event that typically draws 700 attendees. “To pull the plug on in it would cost the foundation money,” she said.

I wonder if the hotel had to buy the expensive Trump merch he filled his hotels with? And pay him for the name.

Funny how he thinks people minds changes. Vaccines don't come "from the government" - it's the same pharma companies that produce them. The same hospital and doctors that jab their patients. :brickwallsmall:

Was TrumpCo providing “services” to the hotel with it’s traditional reasonable markup guaranteed to disperse any profit and create a “tax loss”?

Absolutely. Go back and read the NY Times article about how Fred Trump set up service companies to sell things to his real estate companies at inflated prices so he could pocket the difference and run the real estate entities at an accounting loss and not pay any taxes on their cash flow.

Its what they call...umm what was that term,...money laundering, structuring and tax/bank/wire fraud.

Trump hid over $70 million in losses on his DC hotel, House committee report alleges

KEY POINTS
  • Former President Donald Trump’s luxury hotel in Washington, D.C., lost more than $70 million from 2016 to 2020, according to newly released filings that his accountants submitted to the hotel’s landlord, the General Services Administration.
While the hotel was losing money, Trump’s annual financial disclosures reported only its revenue, which amounted to $156 million over five years.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee alleges in a new report that Trump hid more than $20 million in loans to the struggling hotel.
WASHINGTON – Former President Donald Trump’s luxury hotel in Washington, D.C., lost more than $70 million from 2016 to 2020, according to newly released confidential filings that his accountants submitted to the hotel’s landlord, the General Services Administration.

While the hotel was losing money, Trump’s annual financial disclosures filed with the Office of Government Ethics reported publicly only the hotel’s revenue, which added up to nearly $156.6 million.

Yet over that same period, Trump’s accounting firm, WeiserMazars LLP, disclosed in confidential reports to the GSA that the hotel lost nearly $73.9 million. The firm later changed its name to Mazars USA LLP.

According to a new report issued Friday by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the effect of the discrepancy between what Trump publicly reported and what he privately disclosed was to mislead the public about the president’s financial situation.

A spokeswoman for the Trump Organization rejected the committee’s findings and denied that there was anything misleading in the former president’s disclosures, noting that Trump had reported the hotel’s gross revenue, not its net profit.

The committee also alleges that Trump hid more than $20 million in loans that his real estate holding company made to the struggling hotel, another attempt to conceal the true state of the president’s finances.

Committee Uncovers Evidence that Trump Concealed Millions in Losses, Hid Debts, and Received Millions from Foreign Governments at Trump Hotel

Oct 8, 2021 Press Release

GSA Documents Raise New Concerns about Trump Hotel Lease and Former President’s Conflicts of Interest

Washington, D.C. (October 8, 2021)—Today, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, the Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, and Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations, sent a letter to the General Services Administration (GSA) detailing new concerns about former President Trump’s lease for the Trump Hotel in Washington, D.C., his failure to disclose significant losses and debts in public filings and lease documents, and his conflicts of interest as President. The Committee’s discoveries were based on documents recently obtained from GSA.

So she's admitting the OSG lost his ass on the place despite foreign nationals and corporate CEOs renting out entire floors to curry favor with him.

I can't wait until he loses the place. I've promised myself, once it's been fumigated and de-trumped, I'm taking another trip to DC and I will spend one night there just to celebrate.

The hotel lost money, but did Trump? I agree with the theories upthread; he and his family probably filled their pockets with sales of Trump crap, management "fees" and "licensing". It's practically loan sharking. When you are running a store the term is "shrinkage".

I believe that this is the business model for all professional sporting teams. The teams lose money, the owners get a tax writoff, and merch and TV profits are shared by all. The GB Packers may work differently, I dunno.

And dont forget thats how his casinos ran into the ground. He got his, and the shareholders and debtors got an empty moldy shell.

Well, this is disturbing. In 2017, tfg was going after "fraud in the U.S. election system", and 52% of gopers would support postponing the 2020 election.
A poll found that 52% of people who identify as or lean Republican said they would support postponing the 2020 election to ensure that only eligible citizens could vote if it was proposed by President Trump.

The survey, conducted by two academics and published in the Washington Post on Thursday, interviewed a sample of 1,325 Americans from June 5-20 and focused on the 650 people who said they were or leaned toward the GOP.

The poll also found that 56% said they would support such action — which would be taken to stop alleged voter fraud — if it was supported by both Trump and Republican members of Congress.

Trump has created a "voter integrity" commission to look at what he perceives as fraud in the U.S. election system. The commission met for the first time last month.

That commission found no fraud and he shut it down before it issued its final report saying he lost the election to Hillary Clinton.

If you remember he accused Ted Cruz of voter fraud when Cruz beat him in a primary.

Trump asked director of national intelligence to probe whether Chinese thermostats changed votes, book claims
Donald Trump asked intelligence officials to investigate a bizarre conspiracy theory that Chinese thermostats changed voices in the 2020 election, a new book claims.

The one-term president was said to be “intrigued” by the theory presented to him by Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark, according to the forthcoming book Betrayal, by Jonathan Karl of ABC News.
