Louisiana is losing land along the Gulf Coast. Has been for years. Usually small hamlets that get washed away don't get rebuilt because the land they sat on gets washed away also.

FEMA folk are renting every available vehicle for 300 miles.

Evacuated people will be buying tarps, generators, cleaning supplies, etc. in Texas.

Half the roofers in Texas are loading up their trucks to be ready to head to LA.

Whole neighborhoods in LA will have blue tarped roofs for months some for years.

Trees will keep falling for a while.

Some businesses will fail.
From Katrina I remember that FEMA had a park of camper vans and RVs to move to or near the location. Do they still make that?
The damage is so wide spread that I expect FEMA trailers will soon appear.

It just isn’t practical at higher voltages for various reasons.

The ABC affiliate, WGNO, is pretty funny, they are a young news team and not too experienced. It's the WGNO building that was severely damaged but they kept broadcasting.

They did a package about a woman from Dallas who went to New Orleans for her birthday and interviewed her:
Q: Did you have a nice birthday?
A: No we did not
Q: Were you safe through the storm?
A: My husband got stuck in the elevator

Jeff Masters' and Bob Henson's day after report of Ida's rampage.

https://yaleclimateconnections.org/2021 ... or-damage/

And visual contact has reportedly been made with survivors on Grand Isle:
Some of the 40 or so people trapped on Grand Isle in the wake of Hurricane Ida gave a thumbs-up gesture to a helicopter crew checking on them from overhead, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said Monday.

Lopinto sent the helicopter crew to look in on Grand Isle after officials lost contact with those stuckon the island Sunday evening following Ida’s landfall. He said the sight greeting the chopper — people flashing a thumbs-up sign and using frontloaders to clear debris from the road — gave him hope that those who rode the storm out in Grand Isle’s community center fared relatively well.

These ABC WGNO kids are funny, the guy was just saying for Katrina, he had his parents, grandparents and all that were doing his laundry and stuff... this time he did his own laundry and had a load in the drier because now he's "adulting".

The Barataria Bridge is toast after a large barge rammed into it during the height of #Ida last night. Barataria, Laffite and Crown Point only accessible by boat at this point. No word yet on replacement.

Things got very hairy for NBC News reporter Shaquille Brewster during a live Hurricane Ida report from Gulfport, MS.

Some guy jumps out of a pickup truck and angrily confronts Brewster's crew, prompting a shaken Craig Melvin to express extreme concern for his colleague.

It's more unusual to see the ones not built in stilts. Everything after Katrina has to be on stilts if it's in a flood plain, and if you wanted insurance on something that wasn't destroyed you had to raise the stilt height if it wasn't as high as the flood waters got.
